Crude oil prices plummet

Saudi Arabia has announced what amounts to an oil price war, increasing production.............assumingly to punish the OPEC members who are fudging on volume agreements.  Oil prices have dropped 40% plus over the past three weeks or so.  With the exception of California, we will soon all be enjoying prices well under $2.00 per gallon.  I'm guessing in Indiana, we'll soon be paying near $1.75 for regular.

Enjoy while it lasts.

i saw $1.91 nearby yesterday.    And that was before today's plummet.

I put alot of miles on my car with my side-hustle so cheap gas is always good.

The temporarily lower gas prices may be a good thing, but the global economic slowdown that caused them is a bad thing. Any business that depends on crowds of people gathering is potentially in big trouble. For that matter, restaurants, shopping malls, and movie theaters are reporting decreased business. I was at a major shopping mall Saturday afternoon, and it was a ghost town.

There are fairs and festivals scheduled for the spring and summer that have canceled and/or seen diminished ticket sales. The coronavirus may depress attendance at basketball and baseball games. Airlines are hurting, as are travel-oriented businesses.

The irony is that given the Trump administration's incompetence, everybody either already has been or soon will be exposed to Covid-19 no matter what they do. So any precautions by the public, while prudent, are probably too late.

I might use the cheap gas to drive to a Trump rally and watch everyone cheer the Orange Asshole for his magnificent handling of the crisis. I'm sure that fears of contagion won't diminish those crowds of droolers one bit. I also expect Trump to take credit for the lower gas prices--you know, bigly wonderful economy, and all that.

Kevin, what should Trump be doing that he's not?

Kevin, what should Trump be doing that he's not?

He should have prepared for the coronavirus as soon as the outbreak occurred in China. He should have reassembled the Obama pandemic response team that he had previously destroyed. He should have ordered and funded the production of test kits--much earlier than he actually did. He should never have made such strenuous efforts to deprive Americans of health care.

What should he be doing now? Well, the best thing he could do would be to shoot himself in the head, but we're not likely to get that, so what he should be doing but isn't is diverting funding from useless horseshit like Da Wall to expanding labs' ability to process all of Mike Pence's shiny new test kits. He should be finding ways for people to get tested for free--especially those who don't have health care, because of him. He should be cooperating with Democrats to expand unemployment insurance and paid sick leave for those who elect to self-quarantine--which would enable people who are infected but can't afford to miss work to stay home.

He should also support the CDC instead of hampering its actions, belittling its officials, and depriving it of funding. He should get his head out of his ass about his goddamn poll numbers and do something to address the national and global economic slowdown that is happening because of the coronavirus. He should assemble a team of actually smart people (as opposed to the moronic sycophants currently in the White House) and take their suggestions, because he's already demonstrated that he absolutely, positively does not know what the fuck he's doing.

But only the better class of incompetents realizes that they are, in fact, incompetent and finds someone else to fix a problem. The lower class of incompetents, to which Trump belongs, thinks they are bigly stable geniuses and are qualified to judge things like, uh, the severity of a pandemic.

I trust this answers your question.

I'll just address your first paragraph.  Be specific about what and when Trump should have done these things.

Kevin is just an ignorant idiot who blames everything that has and will happen on the President. That is all he's got.

Stalker and his ilk are just morons who actually believe Trump is competent and a good man. That's hilarious!

I already told you "what"--"when" was when the coronavirus outbreak in China became known. Competent leaders take precautions. Trump didn't because he thought that doing so would hurt him politically.

How many leaders around the World took action at the point Kevin claims was the correct time.  I suspect zero, meaning that there are zero competent leaders around the world.
