I actually stayed awake and watched it.
Glad I did, embarrassing as it was.
- Poor Biden, they said he had a cold or something. Clearly he did, which compounded his weak showing. I thought he might fall down or have a stroke or something right there on TV. I don't believe he can make another year, certainly not four more. Line of succession becomes important. This is one thing that differentiates the US from other countries. But I digress.
- Trump showed his particular strength---showmanship; able to pull an answer out of his a** without having to try very hard, or just fillibuster until timed out. Might be the tipping point, as someone already mentioned.
I remain conflicted, maybe more than ever.

Any occasionally thoughtful person / group who watched the debate had to have some sporadic empathy for Biden from a humanity standpoint; forget the political war briefly for that purpose...toss all that out the window for a second if at all possible. Jerry brings up a good point in that why hasn't his wife , some other family member, and/ or close confidant intervened on Joe's behalf? Biden has in many ways been sequestered by his 'group' ( including family) since before and after the last election for evident and discernible reasons. One part of the problem is that the Democratic political machine and his family, along with Biden himself, are simply too interested in and hooked on power retention and any associated perks to accept some real physiological truths. We saw several bullet points of those specific truths last night, along with stretched truths/ misrepresentations from both candidates ( which is expected and typical of the entire hoard of politicians). Unfortunately, the cable news lackeys on both sides have plenty of fodder for another two to three days now. I'll add that CNN's Tapper and Bash conducted / moderated a fair debate... despite all the pre-debate speculation.
