The prior primaries that Max mentioned didn't have any opposition so there was nobody to debate. This year there were candidates but the democrats declared no debates because they knew Biden was cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs but they wanted to keep the scam going.
LBJ declined to run in March, and Biden screwed the pooch and waited until July, which makes a big difference in timing.
Putting that aside, the vast majority of Dem's are happy with what is happening, Harris has the delegate count to win the nomination, and they're pulling in record amounts of money to support her. The Dem's aren't doing anything illegal.
The crocodile tears from MAGA about the poor folks who voted for Biden are just plain silly, MAGA is pissed because Harris has a better chance than Biden, that's all this is about.

"Someone besides her" wouldn't necessarily be a better candidate. She has several strengths, including some that are unique to her. And the last couple of days have shown that she can sure pull in the $$$.
Also, a lot of the attacks that the RepubliQ are preparing are stupid ("border czar," "responsible for every single thing Biden did that we don't like"), racist ("oh yeah, just another Obama"; "I'll bet she was really born in Africa"), or sexist ("why doesn't she have children?"). There's really not a lot that she's done that the RepubliQ can honestly bleat about. Her campaign has taken a couple of the stupid memes that they were trying to start up and thrown them back in their face by adopting them, which is brilliant.
As things stand now, Harris is a slight favorite. But Donny Diaper will be having several of his signature meltdowns very soon, and every time he does, he loses support. It will be a matter of Kamala vs. Jerkass very soon.

I don't disagree with that. I do think she will end up winning as well. I just think like Newsom would be a slam dunk. And he is way smarter than Harris. It doesn't sound like Harris is that much different than Donny with firing half of her staff. Just like Donny, ex staff have tons of bad stuff to say about her.

It might be simply a question of whether being black and female is a liability or a strength, and preliminary indications are that it might be a major strength. Certainly, those who hate blacks and women are already MAGAs, so nothing was lost there. The big question is whether and how much she galvanizes those Dem voters who were indifferent to Joe.
And pissed former employees are almost a prerequisite these days, so I don't expect much to come of that. It's not like Trump's disgruntled former lackeys have had any impact on his prospects. (And of course, anybody who signed up to work under the Turd is a fucking asshole.)
