The party was reluctant to publish their findings, but the report shows what Democrat voters have already said: the party didn't focus on how horrible Trump is. They apparently didn't want to get in the street fight of "negative messaging." Meanwhile, the Republipigs went all in on that: fear and hatred.
There was also mention of the repetition of the 2016 mistake: "Well, who would ever vote for Trump?" That message didn't take. A major reason is that the party didn't realize how many people would vote for Trump not DESPITE his being a horrible man but BECAUSE of it. They also failed to counter the Republipig economic "Bidenflation" message.
So this was a failure of the "When they go low, we go high" approach. When they go low, you have to go low as well. But while many strategists are saying that, the party leadership seems reluctant to get in that rock fight.
I was hoping that in every race, everywhere, Democrat candidates would relentlessly beat their opponents over the head for being Trump supporters and Trump enablers. Point at him and say, 'You voted for that." Look at the economy in the shitter and state over and over again that it's Trump's fault and the fault of those who refused to stop him.
But I'm afraid we're going to play nice again. We're going to insist on Marquis of Queensbury rules and the fight will start with us getting eye-gouged and kicked in the balls. We're going to try to fight an honorable fight against Republicans, who have no honor.
If we're not willing to fight this in the gutter, we're going to lose.
