Disney yanks Kimmel's show following backlash over Charlie Kirk assassination remarks

I've not watched the show, have had no opinion on Kimmel, but this is like the high end entertainers spouting political opinions during their concerts.  I hate it and personally feel it doesn't belong.  Sorry his show got canned, but he was asking for it.  JMHO.

No, Candy, it's not like that at all. Late night talk shows have always had a political/current events component. It's much different from a concert where you pay to see a specific entertainer.

He and other talk show hosts should be able to present any material they choose, and more importantly, the GOVERNMENT shouldn't dictate what is and isn't presented. You seem frighteningly blase about government censorship of an entertainment program.

This is how freedom dies--with some people (like Millerscum) saying "Hooray!" and far too many others saying, "So what?"

You're making my point, fuckface. Carson made a CHOICE. Free speech means a late night host can choose what material to present, without needing government permission.

How would you have felt if Obama or Biden had shut down Mother Tucker? You'd still be yeeping!

And you should cure yourself of your awful habit of calling people liars just because they disagree with you.

You're scum. And a traitor.

If we ever meet I will explain to you what "free speech" means. You stated -"Late night talk shows have always had a political/current events component" -  Carson did not have a "political" component, therefore , you lied again.

So, we can all have our own opinions.  I'm fine with that.  I don't think it is different, though.   Somebody pays the late night host, like I pay to attend a concert.   If I'm offended by what he/ she says during their program/concert, that's it, I'm offended.  Maybe choose to let it pass, or maybe change the channel from then on.  Or not pay to see that entertainer again.   Peace.

Thank you for the link, David.   Obviously I appreciate Johnny Carson's take on it.  Glad it was captured for posterity.  Each to his own.

I'm not talking about your or any other person's reaction. I'm talking about the right the host has to present whatever material he (and his bosses) feel is appropriate. He's on free TV. If you attend a concert, however, you have an investment and thus, you have expectations. And --that entertainer has doubtless advertised his/her material.

But I'm not sure you understand my point--that the GOVERNMENT shouldn't interfere. You like the material, you don't--fine. As you say, you'll watch it or not.

Just answer me this: do you think Trump should be able to wipe Kimmel off the air?

That's the only question.

Carson never stopped making political jokes. Ever.

You, scum, are the liar here.

So what's your "take" on whether Trump should be able to have late night talk show hosts yanked off the air because they voice opinions he doesn't like?

I mean, I know Millerscum and MAGA support Emperor Turd having absolute power to censor whatever he disapproves of, but they're stupid, unAmerican fucks. I expect you to be a lot less approving. I mean, really...do you truly not see the danger? You don't have to be an avid student of history to find a dozen recent parallels.

Our democracy is dying.

Yeah, its just a co-inkey-dink the FCC chairman threatened ABC and Kimmel was cancelled 4 hours later.

Its amazing the hoops MAGA jumps through to rationalize Trump's thuggery.
