So what's your "take" on whether Trump should be able to have late night talk show hosts yanked off the air because they voice opinions he doesn't like?
I mean, I know Millerscum and MAGA support Emperor Turd having absolute power to censor whatever he disapproves of, but they're stupid, unAmerican fucks. I expect you to be a lot less approving. I mean, really...do you truly not see the danger? You don't have to be an avid student of history to find a dozen recent parallels.
Our democracy is dying.
No. But Kimmel skated on thin ice that night.
Was he seriously voicing an opinion to inform? He was doing a gig on a comedy platform. About an assassination event, painful to many.
It was ABC that suspended Jimmy Kimmel's show; after a broadcasted interview where Brendan Carr, the FCC head said "This...appears to be an action by Jimmy Kimmel to play into the narrative that this [ the shooter] was somehow a MAGA or Republican-motivated person...These companies [broadcasters] can find ways to change conduct, on Kimmel, (my bolding) or there's going to be additional work for the FCC ahead."
After that interview, ABC suspended "Jimmy Kimmel Live!".
Re Jimmy's monologue from the CNN website:
Kimmel didn't criticise Charlie Kirk. Instead, Kimmel "made light of the president's reaction to a reporter's question" about the shooting, and said something suggesting "the shooter was MAGA", which is now known to not be factual.
Did Jimmy have the right? Sure. Lots of rights, including the right to be uninformed, the right to get "sound-bited out of context", the right to risk offending some viewers or bosses or a bully world leader.
Some of what folks might term "rights" aren't worth the trouble in some situations.
