Disney yanks Kimmel's show following backlash over Charlie Kirk assassination remarks

Are you guys saying Kimmel should be allowed to squat on ABC if they don't want him anymore !  They should have every right to evict him if he is not funny, offending over half of the public and losing money and viewers.

Jan 6 conspiresy, Jimmy Kimmel conspiresy,  I am tired of the BS  It is what it is.  He was not funny  Lets put someone on worth watching. He talked to hollywood celebs that nobody cared about, so what

Wow, MAGA LUVVVVS to rationalize Trump's shit! This was 100% a Turd move. His FCC Chairman lackey blackmailed ABC on the Turd's orders. All because Kimmel said something about dead super-asshole Charlie Kirk.

What ABC actually has the right to do is determine its own programming without government interference. Freedom of speech, and all that quaint nonsense.

Kevin, why is everything the left says is ok because of freedom of speech and everything the right says is racist, facist, interferring or authoritative?  That seems to be my take of your ideas, am I wrong?   And just remember, everything expressed above is an opinion, not fact.

What a grade school level argument.  Speech is protected from government censorship regardless if it comes from

the right or left. Conservatives want the government to suppress the free speech of those on the left.

Here is an example of the "free speech" that Mark advocates -  Rep Omar accuses Charlie Kirk supporters of rewriting 'hateful man's' history -- "“I do believe those of you interested in rewriting this hateful man's history are full of sh-t.” -- https://www.facebook.com/watch?v=1337494217790178

That is not true. Numerous examples have been posted of where free speech is limited.

Yes, Susan, you are completely and utterly wrong. You barfed out that statement without thinking at all; tell me a single instance where "the left" has sought to restrict the freedom of speech of "the right," even if that speech was a lie or offensive.

You're also misinterpreting the real issue. Trump had a TV host removed because that host said something he didn't like. Should a President be able to do that?

No one ever said that free speech is unlimited. Perhaps stupid Tom can explain to us why the Turd should be able to restrict speech he doesn't like.

This was a statement of what that person believes. That person is allowed to make such a statement by the laws of our country.

As are you. As am I.

I think there's something stupid Millerscum and MAGA truly might not understand. Free speech includes speech you don't like. ESPECIALLY such speech!

So what's your "take" on whether Trump should be able to have late night talk show hosts yanked off the air because they voice opinions he doesn't like?

I mean, I know Millerscum and MAGA support Emperor Turd having absolute power to censor whatever he disapproves of, but they're stupid, unAmerican fucks. I expect you to be a lot less approving. I mean, really...do you truly not see the danger? You don't have to be an avid student of history to find a dozen recent parallels.

Our democracy is dying.

No.  But Kimmel skated on thin ice that night.

Was he seriously voicing an opinion to inform?  He was doing a gig on a comedy platform.   About an assassination event, painful to many.

It was ABC that suspended Jimmy Kimmel's show; after a broadcasted interview where Brendan Carr, the FCC head said "This...appears to be an action by Jimmy Kimmel to play into the narrative that this [ the shooter] was somehow a MAGA or Republican-motivated person...These companies [broadcasters] can find ways to change conduct, on Kimmel, (my bolding) or there's going to be additional work for the FCC ahead."

After that interview, ABC suspended "Jimmy Kimmel Live!".

Re Jimmy's monologue from the CNN website:

Kimmel didn't criticise Charlie Kirk.  Instead, Kimmel "made light of the president's reaction to a reporter's question" about the shooting, and said something suggesting "the shooter was MAGA", which is now known to not be factual.

Did Jimmy have the right?  Sure.  Lots of rights, including the right to be uninformed, the right to get "sound-bited out of context", the right to risk offending some viewers or bosses or a bully world leader.

Some of what folks might term "rights" aren't worth the trouble in some situations.
