Do tariffs increase consumer prices?

MAGA has told us that foreign countries pay tariffs, that companies absorb tariffs, and that tariffs don't cause prices to increase to consumers. Then why is Trump slashing tariffs to try to lower consumer prices? Very odd. Any ideas from our MAGA members?

Trump Slashes More Tariffs as Food Prices Climb - The Fiscal Times November 21, 2025

We've also been told food prices aren't climbing and eggs are cheap, yet tariffs are being slashed. Very confusing

Doesn't seem like my grocery bill has gone down since JAN.    BUT it's probably just my TDS

Truly amazing that Trump is so STOOOPID as to not know the most basic fact about them: who pays them; yet, they're his favorite weapon.

Of course, it wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't using that weapon against the American people. He has $100 billion in his pocket now (at last count). That should be more than enough to pay for his throne room. That's probably why he's backing off.

Mine has gone up far more than inflation. Of course, that makes sense, since other commodities such as fossil fuels have declined in price and most of them aren't Trumpiffed.

One thing I learned was just how much of our fresh fruits and vegetables come from Canada. They grow them in greenhouses near the border for quick shipment. All that got fucked up by Trump and they're now selling them to Europe and China.
