I prefer In The Air Tonight as I was in High School when Miami Vice came out. I liked it so much I ended up getting one of those white jackets like Don Johnson wore. If only those were still in style and sporting a 5 o'clock shadow was still considered fashionable instead of slovenly.
Bet yes we can't deny the truth that Phil Collins was great. Good Post David! 👍
I heard his Top 40 hits about 37 billion times, but didn't realize how good he was until much later, when I got one of his albums.
Didn't know much about memes until David shared some; didn't know there was a word for them.
Or a definition:..."an image, video or piece of text, typically humorous in nature, that is copied and spread by internet users, often with slight variations."
and "tools for light entertainment, self-expression, social commentary, and even political discourse."
See, I learned something today.
Plus that pretty Phil Collins song. I'm from the "In the Air Tonight" and "One More Night" generation.
See, it was worth it to click in! Learned about memes, and enjoyed lots of Phil stuff. Thanks, Edso.

Yes, that's a fairly benevolent definition of the term. However, "memes" are the modern equivalent of "rumors" or "gossip," or maybe "graffiti." The originators and disseminators of memes use the internet to broadcast some kind of idea, message, slogan, image, etc. Often, a meme is funny; equally often, it's silly or stupid.
There can be a harmful or even sinister aspect to memes. One very obvious recent example is the "They're eating the cats" lie, which originated in one woman's social media post and "went viral." Another is the Trump-as-Jesus meme, one that crashed on takeoff.
So I, perhaps unfairly, lump "memes" together with "all the shit you see on the internet." They're the equivalent of what you see scrawled on the wall of a high school boys' locker room.
