Do you think Trump's threat to use SCOTUS to overturn his election loss is real?

With Trump, you can never tell whether he's just blustering or he actually means what he says. So do you think that when he loses the election, he'll come whining to his very Trumpy Supreme Court to bail him out and declare him a winner, as he has repeatedly threatened?

Also, do you think Republican state legislatures will invalidate their citizens' votes and send their own handpicked electors to the Electoral College, as many of them have threatened to do, on the pretext that the voting in their states was "rigged"?

We know that both Trump and his Republican slaves will claim that the election was rigged, and the bigger the landslide, the louder they'll scream. They'll claim, with no evidence whatsoever, that mail-in ballots are fraudulent and none of them should be counted. They'll also say that no votes should be counted after November 3rd---even if states allow that for mail-in ballots.

The nightmare scenario is that we have an election where the people's votes say one thing and Trump's courts say another. If the latter prevails--well, you don't like rioting? There will be LOTS of that in states whose voters are told their votes didn't count! Americans will have ZERO faith in their institutions if a fascist strongman wannabe and his allies can negate the results of an election!

Or is this all Republican bluff, bluster, and bullshit, and Trump will accept his loss graciously and submit to a peaceful transfer of power, with minimal whining?

Its already occurring.

The Supreme Court has  ruled that late ballots arriving by mail in Wisconsin should not be counted - even if they are post marked before the election day.     The sabotage of the Post Office coupled with the clown court will disenfranchise countless voters.    We will see how many people in total  the Federalist society   court undermined in the coming weeks.

The funny (disgusting) part is that Date-rape Kavanaugh took a contradicting viewpoint on the issue compared to the one he had when he worked for W during the big FLorida recount in 2000.    He absolutely wanted to count late votes in that election....now its unconstitutional or something.

He will if it is anywhere close. The fact is Republicans have been openly cheating for the past 20 years or so. They rig the census, do extreme gerrymanders, make it difficult to vote in democratic areas and finally they pack the courts, so they get away with doing all of this.

Demographically there aren't enough old white guys to keep Republicans in power and that base keeps shrinking every year, so every election they have to cheat a little bit more than they did in the past to stay in power. Republicans have given up any pretense of believing in a Democracy and have gone all-in on authoritarian fascism. Trump is a symptom of the system Republicans created not the cause.

I have news for you. The 2024 Republican candidate will be a smarter more mentally stable version of Trump. He will pursue the same white nationalist policies Trump did. A non-Trumper won't make it out of the primaries. The days of John McCain, Mitt Romney and GHW Bush are over. If you are not an authoritarian strongman, you won't get the Republican nomination.

I hope Joe learned from his time in the Obama administration. Republicans have no intention of working with you, so it is best to start with that assumption rather than meet the Republicans halfway before they tell you no.

I'm worried that even if they win the WH and the Senate, they won't realize what a short time window they have---that they'll blow it just like they did in 2008-2010. They created a flawed version of Obamacare because they wanted to kum-by-ya with the disgruntled Republicans. They should have just started up the steamroller and pushed through what they actually wanted on that and other issues. After all, Moscow Mitch has done that over the last four years, and even openly smirked and gloated about it. Thus the current shitstorm.

If the Democrats have any sense, they'll set things up so that the Republicans can never regain power. And yes, thirteen Supremes, admit DC and PR, Green New Deal, tax the living crap out of the wealthy, implement SOOOOOCIALISM, send the earth spiraling into the sun, whatever. The Republicans have shown us how utterly ruthless they are when they're in power. Now, it has to be gloves off. No more of that pretense about unity and "reaching across the aisle." The only thing that should be extended across the aisle is the Democrats' middle finger.

I don't know what the best remedy for Trump's court-packing on the district and local levels might be, but I think I heard about a plan to expand the number of judges, which can actually be justified on the basis of high case loads anyway. Then wait for the Republihole stooge judges to croak or retire. It might take a decade or more to make the judiciary not Trumpian, but it can be done.

Wisconsin law said that ballots could be not counted if they arrived after election day The SC ruled that the earlier court ruling could not make up their own law

Yes, Tom, the Supreme Court is now actively in cahoots with Republican voter suppression efforts. I'm sure that Louis DeJoy has instructed the post office in Wisconsin to slow down the handling of mailed ballots. After all, they get to throw away any that arrive late!

It's disgusting that you, supposedly an American, cheer and clap at this.

I'm sure statements...who believes those?

OK, I'll use one.  I'm sure that if Louis DeJoy instructed the post office in Wisconsin to slow down the handling of mailed ballots, there would be plenty of post office employees willing to rat on him for doing so.

Oh, really? And lose their jobs, have their reputations trashed, and never be able to work again? And for what? I'm sure they've seen what happens to whistleblowers, especially during the dark Trump times. They could also lose their pensions. Report on the actions of Trump's stooge, and you'll soon be on the street. As much as we'd all like to think that government employees will do the ol' noble sacrifice thing when they see corruption, the reality is...no. And neither would I, probably, especially if I was supporting a family.

I doubt that DeJoy's instructions would be that brazenly explicit--they would be more like "take fifty mail sorting machines out of service for maintenance on October 31" or some such. This we know: Trump wants the Post Office crippled so that some mail-in ballots don't arrive on time, and DeJoy is a loyal Trump stooge who has no actual experience in the Postal Service. Therefore, the only reason he's there is to carry out Trump's orders.

As you've probably discerned, I don't trust the Republicans in the slightest, since they've shown that there is no moral or ethical boundary they won't cross. The fake ballot boxes in California were an indication of just how low they will go to get Trump reelected.

Is it any wonder that no one trusts the Supreme Court?
