With the Trump administration, and particularly since the pandemic, the rest of the world has regarded us with shock and dismay. As Trump breaks treaties, starts pointless trade wars, and insults every other country on the planet and their leaders, former allies as well as enemies are disgusted and appalled. We've plummeted in worldwide standing to the level of a failed banana republic. People like Somalia and North Korea better than they like us.
But then came...THE ELECTION!!!! Whee!!!! We showed the world that Trump is an aberration! We thoroughly repudiated him and swept him and all his lackeys and stooges out of office!!! The world loves us now, right??
Except, we didn't really do that.
73 million evil idiots voted for the worst President in history. We perhaps could have been forgiven for 2016, when so many of us fell for a con man's pitch. But there's no excuse this time! The election should have been 153 million to 0. It wasn't a landslide at all, though.
So has our standing in the world improved? We barely shoved Trump out of office, but down-ballot Republicans--who are nothing more than appendages of Trump--did very well. What do people think of us now? That almost half of us support a mentally ill fascist dictator wannabe and the party that he owns? Can the world ever forgive us for Trump when so many of us continue to support him?
