A post that probably only amuses me, but I thought I’d share.
My wife and I have been enjoying a very low‑roller advantage play at a local casino in Black Hawk for the past three years. We’ve been playing Bonus Poker and making good use of free‑play offers. Nothing huge, but we each managed to squeeze out a small profit and some nice comps.
In early September, the casino downgraded the video poker pay-tables. I found a less valuable—but still playable—option, so we kept going. Now our free play has been shrinking week after week, and a couple of weeks ago we finally decided it wasn’t worth the drive anymore.
Then I read David McKee’s latest blog post about Penn Entertainment’s strong first‑quarter results. The CEO opened the call by saying, “Our property performance was encouraging across the portfolio… the ongoing ramp of M Resort’s new hotel tower with impressive results from the team at Ameristar Black Hawk.”
Of course, the only two Penn casinos I play at, M and Ameristar, are doing great. No wonder the pay-tables and offers have shriveled up!
