EDITORIAL: Americans continue moving out of high-tax states

Owning a business in California has become a challenge — unless you’re running a U-Haul franchise. The Census Bureau this month released its annual report on domestic migration — Americans moving from county to county and state to state. The report provides more evidence that the blue-state model of high taxes and a stifling regulatory climate has consequences. Eight of the 10 U.S. counties with the biggest population gains were in Texas and Florida. The other two were located in Arizona and South Carolina. Meanwhile, eight of the 10 biggest population-hemorrhaging U.S. counties were in California, New York and Illinois. An analysis by the folks at Issues &Insights found that, since 2020, counties that voted for Joe Biden have lost nearly 3.7 million residents to counties that went for Donald Trump. The 11 American counties with the largest population losses all supported Mr. Biden. Nationally, 62 percent of the counties Mr. Biden carried in 2020 have lost residents, while 67 percent of the counties that went for Mr. Trump have seen an influx of newcomers. The findings track with 2022 figures, which showed that most states gaining population in the prior year were dominated by Republicans while all those that saw declines were Democratic strongholds -- https://www.reviewjournal.com/opinion/editorials/editorial-americans-continue-moving-out-of-high-tax-states-3023459/?utm_campaign=widget&utm_medium=section_row&utm_source=homepage&utm_term=EDITORIAL%3A%20Americans%20continue%20moving%20out%20of%20high-tax%20states

Liberals keep telling us that taxes and regulations don't matter.  The proof is in the pudding.

You LUVVV that phrase! Like a demented parrot--"The proof is in the pudding! The proof is in the pudding! AWWWWWWWK!"

People have been moving to and from California for centuries, People have been moving to and from every other state for centuries. There's no proof, and no data, to support Boiler's/conservitards' contention that people move solely because of taxes and/or regulations.

Here's the thing: higher-tax states provide more services and a better quality of life than low-tax states. So that's an incentive for people who care about quality of life to stay. People who just want a lower tax bill will move to lower-tax states, even if life there is crummy. And as far as regulation is concerned: poorly regulated states are more polluted, more dangerous, and don't function well. If you don't are about those things, you might move. If you do care, you'll stay.

So California is expelling all its trailer trash. Good riddance.

California is having a net loss in population; many with high incomes are leaving.

New state-to-state migration data show that for several years, thousands more high-earning, well-educated workers have left California than have moved in. The reversal, largely in response to the state’s high taxes and soaring cost of living, has begun to damage California’s overall economy.

Trailer park MAGAS are fleeing California. Bye!

kevin shows off his 3rd grade reading skills again

Adios MAGAs!

There is no "state to state migration data" other than the federal census. People don't report that they've moved to anyone, nor do they report where they've moved from. And anyone claiming to know why people have moved is talking out of their ass. Unless there's someone who's interviewed everyone who's moved in the last decade.

California has a high cost of living. Why? Because people want to live there. That drives up housing costs. (DUH!)

Idiot goober MAGAs who are stuck in places like Texas can comfort themselves by viewing all the propganda that says that people are "fleeing" California.

The Census Bureau provides state to state moves annually.  The Post Office thru their change of address forms also has this data.

Even Ca govt acknowledges this.

Well, the state’s population dipped yet again in 2022, for the third year in a row. The number of people living in California fell by 138,443 last year, to 38.94 million, according to state data released this week.

kevin continues to live in a fantasy world.
