Eeeek! A POLITICIAN!!

The idiot campaign ads are coming thick and fast now. The RepubliQ ones are slightly dumber, but all of them seem to have been crafted to appeal to idiots. Maybe that's the idea.

A recent recurring theme is to call the other guy a "politician," in a hushed and horrified tone that suggests that it's worse than being an ax-murdering child rapist. But you have to be a politician to get elected--and crucially, to get anything done once you assume office. There's nothing wrong with it.

Jimmy Carter, as an example, was and is a good man. But he was a lousy politician. And thus, a failure as a President. We need more politicians and fewer demagogues.

       Lewis lies again - he states "but you have to be a politician to get elected" - President Trump was not a politician and was elected President. 

Trump not a politician?? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!

And I'm not lying just because I said something you disagree with. You call people liars over and over and over, like an angry toddler. Fucking grow up!

You have the mentality and demeanor of a small child with a behavioral disorder.

He means and is correct that Trump was not a career politician. He was a  (dishonest and thieving) businessman and TV personality. He had never held elective office before running for president.

It's ironic and sad that low information voters (those who don't pay attention to or think much about politics, but do vote) hold the outcome of elections in their hands and are swayed by which ad they saw the most often or which ad made the biggest impression on them due to its visuals (candidate with his happy family etc.) or its distortions of their opponents' record.

In Maggie Haberman's new book, she writes that when she interviewed people at Trump rallies in 2016, she found that his supporters preferred him because he was a "successful businessman," a preference she wrote that was based solely on their having watched "The Apprentice" and believing that what they saw on the show (its fake sets and carefully scripted dialogue) was a true depiction of their new hero.

I said politician, not career politician. Trump was possibly the most successful politician in 100 years--gaining, from pretty much out of nowhere, the undying, slavish affection of tens of millions of drooling morons. That was an unprecedented political achievement.

If you like, Trump became an extremely proficient amateur politician. The goof is that initially, he was just doing it to amuse himself and didn't even take his own efforts seriously.
