the very first sentence correctly notes the supply shortage because of bird flu.
David can't even find a Rupert Murdoch article to stand on. He has to lie about that reported news too.
The "bird Flu" excuse is just that - a bogus excuse. By the way, it does not change the fact that the egg prices in California are the highest in America, now why is that? Here are some comments in the article -- (1)The real reason eggs cost $9.00 a dozen in California is because Democrats over regulate everything and try to run every aspect of your life. They know how to spend your hard earned money better than you, just ask them. After they take half of your paycheck in taxes, they will then tell you what to buy, how much you can buy, and when to buy it. -(2)Still less than $5 a dozen in Texas - so weird. Oh and avocados are 50 cents here instead of 3$ like in CA. Gas is 1/2 the price... it's almost like maybe CA is the problem not bird flu etc...-(3)Oregon requires "cage free" eggs and imposes other unnecessary regulations that jack up the prices. Fred Meyer yesterday in Klamath Falls had 18 packs of regular, large eggs at $13.39. The sign said, "new low price"! Never seen eggs that expensive. An insult, but par for the course in this blue state. -(4)I just got back to California from pheasant hunting in South Dakota for 3 weeks. I brought back a 4 dozen eggs as they were $2 a dozen and farm fresh from the local feed and grain store. Eggs by my house in California at Vons cost $6.49 for large and $11.99 for jumbo eggs per dozen.. Can’t wait to move out of here to South Dakota. The laws & taxes created by democrats have destroyed a once great state. Sadly the voting is rigged and Republicans will never have a voice there.-(5)Reading this, so I went to the markets (vs) retail reports as of today. The average price, of mixed 12 count and 18 count eggs, to the store, is $2.14 per pack (at close of business 12/31/2024). That is for general pack "caged eggs". "Non-Caged eggs, per pack, runs from $3.01 to $8.34 (the higher end being organic free range). So, in California, you are paying for some person's idea of a "humane" egg market. You get what you vote for. * PS: I can't find any significant market or price variations, over a year's time, caused by "bird flu". That appears to be a "fear factor" type of thing. The supply of eggs has only fluctuated by 4%, over the last year (6. )Story totally ignores that California and at least one other state are now going to require all eggs sold be from Cage Free Farms. That alone is having a huge impact on prices. -(7)I was going to mention that too. I believe they also have a new law for mandatory space for pigs coming in the new year. Free range pigs. Guess Swine Flu will be blamed for that price increase
