Candy, very informative about Casino gambling in Arkansas. I have several friends who come from Arkansas to gamble at the Downstream Casino outside of Joplin. I know of one charter bus that comes from Bella Vista Arkansas, regularly. I don't see the two new casinos locating in Western Arkansas, Eastern Oklahoma is oversaturated with casinos.
Thanks, cjen. I believe one county approved by the measure is in mid upper state (Pope County). I haven't followed it that closely, but those with 'concern' figure the Indian interests are quite skilled in the art of casinos and will be able to spread out in the state in due time. I know of busses from central AR that go to Roland and other OK cities for gambling. Ironically, more Pope County votes went against casinos. They have voted for ca stipulation that only if the county 'votes' to allow a casino will there be one. I don't get this, maybe read it wrong or it was stated wrongly by the newspaper. I guess it is complicated. I read that the Cherokee Nation is well into casino prospects in Arkansas.
As the results continue to trickle in, it looks like the Democrats will pick up as many as 37 House seats. It also looks like they are going to pick up that Senate Seat in Arizona as the absentee ballots have been counted.
It was a wave election.
