Eli Lilly Says It Will Cut the Price of Insulin

This, in addition to the $35 a month cap they had already put on individual insulin prices. Source.

Of course, this has NOTHING to do with our political leadership! These sorts of great things just happen magically, and no one should ever get any credit for pressuring drug companies to take these kinds of actions.

Right?

You can thank liberals like Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders who brought this price-rape to the fore for years while socialists like Ted Cruz defended it saying we need artifically high prices to protect Research and Development

Oh, and this is also an issue that benefits the cholosteral ridden red states of the South more so than the Kale munching blue states on the coasts.   And I'm sure those red states will  be about as thankful as the last healthcare reform that they received that also benefitted them more.

A fair modification would be to fix the price of insulin at $500 for Republicans and $0 for Democrats. After all, that's what each group has wanted.

The credit should be given to Democratic legislators who managed to overcome Republican evil and end decades of subservience to the drug companies.

Why is it that everything the RepubliQ wants hurts people?

Drug companies figured out (and have carried out) ways to fend off competitors from developing generic forms, i.e. less costly.  Once upon a time drug patents expired after a certain number of years.  Now they cleverly tweak some part(s) of their product that doesn't change the drug but permits them to call it a new drug and extend the patent...with prices many cannot afford.

Suffering with diabetes is bad enough without having it bankrupt you and yours with the skyrocketed cost of insulin, which used to be very affordable.  Shame on those companies that hold patients hostage for this and other life-preserving drugs.

And shame on our government for letting them do it.  You can't get away with that anywhere else in the world.
