Elon Musk says millions in Social Security database are between ages of 100 and 159

You (PJ Stroh) have no way of knowing what's in the data fields, what technology is being used and how these guys were looking at it.  You're just repeating something you heard on the internet.

When you partition the data into date ranges in any database it's blatantly obvious what default values are in the system.  These aren't retarded kids like your own.

Robert Davis has a better explanation with facts, you're just pulling strings out of your backside.

Thanks IM.  I greatly appreciate it.  I only post items here that I can verify from legitimate sources with reliable information.  That comes from my background in market research and statistical analysis.  I hope that you get a chance to read the report because there is some very interesting information that you would appreciate with you IT background.

Iggo is a made-up persona, constructed for the sole purpose of trolling, and his remarks in these forums indicate that the only way he could ever be in the IT profession is if that stood for "idiot troll."

Thus, he's not interested in any factual data or info. He just wants to re-bleat Elon's utter nonsense to see if he can get a rise out of anyone.

"The pot calling the kettle black" is an idiom that means criticizing someone for a fault that you also have. It's an example of hypocrisy or psychological projection

Even the Trump White House now admits this claim is false as have been most of Elon's claims. PJ was correct and the rest of you were wrong.

You have a bunch of clueless twits recruited from 4chan looking at outgoing payments and because they have no experience working in government or even a rudimentary understanding of Federal Agencies they keep fucking up and illegally denying payments to people and businesses that are owed money from the United States government.

David Miller runs here and posts every ketermine feaver dream Elon has as news. You think he would get tired of being lied to over and over again. I suspect once Elon, Trump and their "klan" carve up his social security and Medicare he will be singing a different tune.

Well Gee whiz !  Thats what you are doing too, Aaron.   And if you've been coding that long you understand how difficult it is to pick up someone elses code (in a language you aren't proficient in) and understand how its all working within 48 hours.     Thats what Elon and friends did.   And they very irresponsibly sent out a message of disinformation which was quickly refuted by the people who have been working with that code for 40 years.

So, Aaron, we can listen and repeat to the people who are familiar with the code.   Or we can listen and repeat to the people who have looked at it for 2 days.

But I tell ya wat  - I'll concede your point if you can give me a single name of one person that is being paid by the 150 year old metric Elon lied about.   Give me one name, Aaron.   Elon cant.   Maybe you can.   And if you cant - can we just presume you and ELon are full of shit?

I've done exactly that for decades.  It's not hard to figure out how to look at the data and determine a flag or a field and work out ranges even if you aren't proficient in the language or data model.  And these guys have AI to assist, so they have quite the powerful range of tools to work with.

Regardless, you are defending a corrupt system, whether its by design or entropy.  Why wouldn't you want it cleaned up?

If you wish to read the facts about the situation, click on my link to the IG report on SSA.  There were some great recommendations on how to improve the program.  Take care.  https://oig.ssa.gov/assets/uploads/a-06-21-51022.pdf

Corrupt by whose judgment? YOURS??? Surely you can't be so completely, stupidly fucking naive as to not realize that pasting a "corruption" label on everything is the way Elon and the Turd are "justifying" their Project 2025 crusade?

Here's the reality, dumb Iggo. Our system is ranked 28th out of 180 on the Corruption Perceptions Index. Our score is 65 out of 100; no country scored higher than 90. We're well above the median. (I can't help but observe that we dropped from 68 to 65 during the first Turd administration.) I've never had to grease a public servant's palm in order to get something I want/need. Most other countries, you do have to do that--routinely.

And ya know what's the single most effective weapon against public servant corruption? PAYING THEM AS MUCH AS THEY WOULD EARN FOR A SIMILAR JOB IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR!!!! But Elon's slash-and burn approach is getting rid of the best and most experienced public employees...ensuring that public service will be a low-paying shit career for those who can't cut it elsewhere. (And yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah, I can hear you saying as you stand in line at the DMV, that's what we have now. But that's not a fair, honest, or accurate assessment. Just try dealing with the civil service in any one of a dozen other countries.)

So is there corruption in our system? Yes. Undoubtedly. Should we destroy everything in order to root out that corruption? I doubt that anyone besides Elon agrees that we should. Furthermore, do indiscriminate mass firings solve corruption?

Lastly...be honest, Iggo...you're a Turd lackey, by choice and design. DO YOU REALLY THINK HE GIVES A FLYING CRAP ABOUT CORRUPTION, SINCE HE'S A LIFELONG, BLATANT, EGREGIOUS CROOK HIMSELF?

If this is a real problem--and I'm not saying that is necessarily is or isn't--the Turd and his stooges should be the LAST people to address it. Oh, and by the way, tell me you're perfectly cool with a teenage criminal who calls himself "Big Balls" knowing your bank account and credit card info.

Iggo..."cleaned up" does NOT mean "looted"...or "destroyed."

AI doesnt tell you how legacy code works.

The database had fields in it with birth dates from 1875 which was the default date used when one was not known.   The code in their 1970's programming had logic to ignore that date.    Musk did not know this.  His whiz kids did not know this.   SO they made an irresponsible statement about 150 year old people being paid by the SS administration....a statement that has since been refuted.

And its not the first time he and his team have fed out disinformation.

But to answer your question.  I want things cleaned up.   A prerequistite to cleaning them up is fully understanding how they work and what the shortfalls/waste/fraud is.     Shooting first and asking questions later is proving to be an exercise in clusterfuckery  which Musk and friends prove each day.

Thats fine.

There are people who use false SS numbers to game payments out of the system.    Thats been a known problem for years.  And if Elon or anyone else wants to find ways to resolve that - great.   I dont have a problem with it.

But the subject of this thread is not accurate and does not depict what your inspectors general report is talking about.   People with an 1875 birthdate in the system werent really born in 1875 and that  is not indicitative of fraud.   ANd its not something you can query to make a statement about bogus payments.    Its just legacy code working the way it was designed.

The myth of quintillions of Social Security dollars being paid out to dead people and space aliens is oddly persistent. This despite the fact that most SS payments are direct deposited to bank accounts, and the remainder are issued as paper checks, the negotiation process of which is easily traceable. Yes, sometimes people die and their relatives don't tell the government, and their survivors keep on receiving and depositing their checks...but that's a) fraudulent b) grossly dishonest c) a felony, so I don't think it's even remotely as common as the interblab/MAGA wants us to believe. The vast majority of people are, in fact, honest...even Republicans.

The "massive fraud" conservitard nonsense would be harmless if it remained merely another idiot talking point. But it's been used as a pretext for attempts to slash Social Security. Hell, Ronny Raygun wanted to do that, and the system was much more solvent then than it is now. What I consider extremely hilarious is that ALL THEM FEELTHY IMMERGENTS are the reason that the Social Security program's negative cash flow point was shoved forward from 2022 to an estimated 2029. DEPORT 'EM ALL DAD GUM IT! Wait, where's my check? Sorry, David, Elon took it.
