There won't be many defections, though. That's fine. We need it to be on the record--of the GOP members of Congress, who is going to remain a loyal Trump lackey and who is going to grow a conscience. Then the votes of the lackeys can be dangled in their faces in 2020.
The Senate is a different animal. Only a third of the (GOP) senators are up for reelection in 2020. And most of those are representing dead-red states that would vote Republican even if the senator up for reelection was a convicted child rapist. There are really only three vulnerable GOP senators, and those MIGHT be persuaded to defect. That would make the Senate 50-50 and Biden's VP would break all ties.
Note that I'm referring to the POLITICAL consequences that might be suffered by loyal Trump lackeys in the Senate. I'm not expecting ANY of them to vote for impeachment based on loyalty to their country or its laws and principles. For GOP senators, that ship sailed long ago when they plighted their troth to the Orange One.
