Frustrated with our education system

I would use average SAT/ACT scores as the metric.  PJ chooses some fluff metric.  Try again.

since you obviously didn't read my link - I'll summarize.

The ranking I cited does use act/sat scores and also graduation rates and child safety.     Which one of those is "fluff" in your opinion.

Boilerboob automatically discounts any data that contradicts his preconceived notions. Doesn't matter what metric you use, though. Blue state students are smarter and more successful academically than red state students, and the size of the margin is shocking.

So if you're wondering how on earth the goober states could have voted for Trump, you have the answer: because everyone there is STOOOPID.

Typically, you'll find that more liberal communities are willing to allocate resources (ie, pay more taxes) for things like before-school and after-school programs.

NYC spends money on all these programs as well as others with poor results.  It isn't how much money you spend but how well it is spent

NYC charter schools have less money but vastly better results.

The cost per student for NYC charter schools is approximately $18,340. This figure represents the average spending per pupil at these schools, which is less than the average funding per pupil in traditional district schools. - New York State Education Department.

NYC Charter Schools Results 2024 The 2024-25 school year results for NYC charter schools show a significant improvement in student proficiency compared to their NYC district counterparts. In English Language Arts (ELA), charter schools achieved a proficiency rate of 58.2%,  In Mathematics, the proficiency rate for charter schools was 66.3%. Notably, Black and Hispanic charter school students outperformed their district peers in both ELA and Math, with Black charter students scoring proficient at 65.9% compared to 38.4% in the district, and Hispanic students at 63.7% compared to 39.7%. These results reflect the continued success of NYC charter schools and their impact on student achievement. - New York City Charter School Center

As of now, more than 163,000 students are on wait lists for charter schools in New York City. This number reflects the ongoing demand for charter school seats in the city. studentsfirstny.org

Applications: Charter schools accept applications on a rolling basis. If there are more applicants than seats available, a lottery is held to randomly select students for admission.  Waitlists: If a child is not selected in the lottery, they will be placed on the school's waitlist. They will be notified when seats become available.

Yeah, still has nothing to do with wanting to drop off your kids early because you need to be at work. Thanks for explaining charter schools to me, I had never heard that they existed until your very informative post about them.

Except for my 2 adult kids attended charter schools. Oh wait! I did know about them.

Stupid Tom didn't have any Tom-stats to pull out of his ass re the topic of school precare, so he started babbling and oozing about NYC charter schools.

I worked for a bank many years ago, now defunct, in their international office. We had a twelve-hour operational workday. You could pick your arrival and departure time within those boundaries; meaning you could choose to arrive between 8:00 and 11:30. Everybody LOVED that. Made me wonder just how many jobs actually require 8 to 5.

Graduation rates, which have been dumbed down, and child safety are the fluff.  They can work those numbers and suddenly a bad school magically becomes a good school...even though the kids can't read, write or do simple muliplication.

So according to Boilerman people who don't gradiate high school are smarter than the ones who do.    And providing a safe environment free from drugs and violence is a bullshit metric for measuring quality of education.

Glad we got that one settled.

fun fact....some states require all students take the SAT/ACT....even the dumb kids.   Some states it's voluntary so only college bound kids take it.    It's not a good metric on its own.   Some states get high scores but only 1% of students actually participate....like Arkansas which has shitty public education

A Boilerboob stat, like a Tom-stat, is one that is taken out of context, deliberately misleading, or simply false. Educate Boilerboob that blue states have higher high school graduation rates and he'll tell you that they push students upward with no evaluation of their skills. His hilarious implication is that they don't do that in Arkie-saw, that hotbed of academic rigor. 😂😂😂

Let's co-opt one of his favorite sayings: how do we know blue states are smarter than red states? The proof is in the voting.

The real educational crisis is that millions of students have become Trumpers. That's far more STOOOPID than just not knowing their times tables.
