In just the last four days, the cheapest gas in town (Portland) has dropped by 51 cents/gallon. The various news sources say it will drop even lower.
Analysts attribute this to weak worldwide demand, as Europe and China are still in a semi-recession. In the US, people are driving less--but the presence of electric vehicles is having a significant impact as well. Despite repeated RepubliQ efforts to sabotage EV production and sales, people are finding out just how nice it is to not be a slave to the fossil fuel companies. You need transportation, and for the last 50 years you had to ask: how much money are these motherfuckers going to vacuum out of my wallet THIS time? Now, you can give them the finger--and more and more people are.
No need to cry for the poor poor oil companies, though. All they need to do is ramp up production--which they're doing, despite agitation to choke off supply. Why? Because if they double production, that doesn't come remotely near doubling their costs--it's more like a 10% increase. All of their fixed investments don't change in cost when they pump more oil.
And there's absolutely nothing the RepubliQ can do about it!
