Gas prices dropping like a rock

US production has done nothing but go up.   And yet gas prices remain volatile.   Thats the price you pay for living in a world where Saudi Arabia has so much power over a global commodity.

And for some reason US Republicans like Tom  think that is a preferable dynamic compared to an energy source that is free from foreign manipulation.

Thats why you dont want Republicans like Tom in charge of building the future.     15 years from now nobody is going to give a shit what gas prices are.

Toyota says they are going to have batteries by 2029 that have a range of 700 plus miles on a single charge and can fully be recharged in 10 minutes. At that point, it won't make sense to buy a gasoline powered vehicle unless you have a specific need like hauling cargo or regularly towing heavy loads.  Electric cars are the future as much as that disappoints conservatives.

The future itself disappoints consevatives. The dictionary definition of conservative is "afraid of the future."

There will be heavy-duty EVs in the very near future. They just need to be geared so that you have the needed torque on demand. Right now, they're geared the opposite way--for maximum range. But can you imagine the savings for, say, long-haul freight trucks or RVs? Staggering.

So many holes in this liberal fantasy.

By going to batteries you cede control to China

China refined, 95% of manganese, roughly 70% of cobalt and graphite, two-thirds of lithium, and over 60% of nickel.

China has 69% of the battery market

Rank Country % of Total

1 🇨🇳 China            69%

#2 🇺🇸 U.S.            10%

#3 🇩🇪 Germany      6%

#4 Hungary            2%

The US has one active mine left in the country, in Clayton Valley near Silver Peak, Nevada.

Ford is losing $4B on EV cars.  If they shift to making more EVs then they have to raise the prices on cars that already cost to much.  And the the cars aren't selling.  Franchised auto dealers have a diminishing outlook for EV sales, Cox Automotive’s chief economist Jonathan Smoke said. The dealers are reportedly feeling pressure from oversupply concerns

Then there is the pollution.

Each ton of lithium produced requires 500,000 gallons of water. Besides the discarded mineral salt mixture, the process can result in water and soil contamination plus a depleted water table.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) a very unstable country produces 70% of the world’s Cobalt

Chile is the leading producer of the world’s Copper. The vast majority of Chile’s Copper comes from open-pit/strip mines. This type of mining negatively affects vegetation, topsoil, wildlife habitats, and groundwater.

Only 5% of  toxic EV batteries are recycled; the rest are dumped creating an environmental problem.

Then the big question of where will the increased electricity to power the electric plants come from

We only cede control to China if we dont invest in EV's ourselves - which is the Republican platform.   Same thing with renewable energy.   And ceding control to China is what most Republicans voted for when Joe Biden passed his infrastructuere bill to lead the US in these areas instead of follow.

Thats why its good Democrats won the election over the Flintstones party  Tom supports who believe we will still be driving gas combustion engines in 15 years despite every auto CEO saying the oppositte.

And thats been the pattern for the last 40 years.   Democrats have to drag Republicans kicking and screaming into the future with - seat belts, the internet, efficient light bulbs, green energy, and EV vehicles....or as your friendly neighborhood conservative calls it in each case "North Korea"

The problems that Tom mentioned--the ones that are real, that is--are far smaller and easier to manage than being dependent on fossil fuels and the insane countries and soulless, evil corporations that control them.

We can and will increase battery production. We can and will trade for whatever materials we can't provide domestically. The idea of trade frightens Tom. He doesn't realize that we "depend" on the rest of the world for literally thousands of goods and commodities already. And the rest of the world--including CHIIIIIIIINAAAAA--depends on the rest of the world. China doesn't "control" shit. They need us as much as we need them.

Increased electricity demand can be met by the building of solar plants. And yes, I know that the sun doesn't always shine. So fucking what. A single solar plant installation--like the one 40 miles south of Vegas--can power a city of 250,000 people.

Stupid, ignorant, out-of-touch, antiquated thinking dumbass Tommie-poo.

We only cede control to China if we dont invest in EV's ourselves

As pointed out earlier we have already ceded control to China who has 69% of the battery market & 70% of the cobalt market.  Right now the US has only 1 operating lithium mine.  Whenever a mine is proposed the greenies block it.  Biden just banned mining on a tract in Minnesota for 20 years that has nickel, copper & other metals.

Liberals want it both ways

Tom supports who believe we will still be driving gas combustion engines in 15 years despite every auto CEO saying the oppositte.

And car manufacturers are never wrong when it comes to producing cars; see 2008.  Ford is losing over $4B on EV cars.

The current EV inventory has nearly 91,000 cars piling up at dealerships as consumer enthusiasm for the new technology dwindles.  Cox Automotive data shows EV supply of more than 100 days on dealership lots, more than double the number of gasoline vehicles

40% of EV cars sold are in Ca.  The rest of the country has no interest.

We can and will increase battery production

Liberals have been saying that for years but it isn't happening.

We can and will trade for whatever materials we can't provide domestically.

That is what is called a trade deficit.  Of course chinese kevin supports sending $$$ to China.

China doesn't "control" shit

When China controls 70% of a key market they do control shit.  They get to establish the price & in a crisis can cut off the supply

Increased electricity demand can be met by the building of solar plants

Solar is currently 3% of the electric market & demand is increasing by 2.7% per year.  Beween now and 2050 US electric demand is expected to increase by 50% (Forbes).  It gets worse if we factor in the additional demand from the EV market.

and yes, I know that the sun doesn't always shine. So fucking what

Kind of important when you are depending on the sun for electricity.  What a dumb statement, even for kevin

NYS get less than 33% sunny days in a year.

https://www.currentresults.com/Weather/New-York/annual-days-of-sunshine.php

Chicago & the rest of Illinois is even worse

https://www.currentresults.com/Weather/Illinois/annual-days-of-sunshine.php

Even worse is Minnesota

https://www.currentresults.com/Weather/Minnesota/annual-days-of-sunshine.php

But according to liberals magic solves eveything

Fortunately, people as stupid as Tommie-poo are relatively rare.

As usual when 3rd grade kevin can't win the discussion with facts; he resorts to insults
