Regardless of the specific vehicle he owns, he's completely into the general EV mentality..wouldn't you agree?
His choice.

Jerry's just putting on the asshole cap, because he wants to start arguments. He learned that I was a teacher and ever since, has been disparaging me and my profession--as has stupid Tommie-poo. He does it solely to make me angry. This stupid EV vehicle debate is the same thing--no purpose except to annoy me. That's why I've demoted him to Shortbus. While he's perfectly capable of rational discussion, he often chooses his "start an argument" shit instead. So I don't need it (and BTW I'm proud of my former profession, and it's about ten times as difficult as people like Jerry thinks it is).
As I mentioned in my reply to Jerry that he didn't deserve, the last time I bought a vehicle was several years ago, as I drive all my cars from new to dead. At that time, EVs were not readily available (there was an eight-month waitlist), and the real downer was that batteries only lasted about 150K and took over $2000 to replace. The tiebreaker now is that there are aftermarket batteries coming on the market that are considerably cheaper, AND the batteries now being used OEM last much longer. When my hybrid has breathed its last, I'll definiteely get an EV. I'm sure by that point, we'll have undergone yet another spasm of insane make-the-fossil-fuel-companies-richer gas price spikes. Doesn't affect me all that much, as my hybrid is a plug-in. I only have to buy gas on long trips.
In fact, until there are more charging options outside cities (like maybe interstate rest stops?), an EV is impractical for anyone who frequently travels long distances. A hybrid is better. I'm sure that will no longer be the case as both hybrids and EVs increase in range and more charging stations become available, as per Biden's infrastructure plan.
I don't disparage you for being a former teacher anymore. I just disparage you for being a narcissist now.

Tell ya what, boys and girls. If you want an EV and buy into the BBQ that the left is cooking on this issue, then by all means have at it with my blessing. They're available..it's your choice..go ahead on. It's my contention that I'll croak before I personally have to own one as the publicly presented accelerated timeline for the transition from ICE's to EV's avoids realities and costs way too much. I'm not going to be concerned much about it until I physically observe them dismantling the transfer pipelines, the truck stops, all related infrastructures, and my local gas stations. When these related issue accountants project costs for this transition, they seldom if ever include the real costs of dismantling the current existing infrastructures with ICE's. In the end , it's mostly about money and progression of the green movement, and there's some processes with EV production and maintenance issues that are in direct conflict with that green movement that are never discussed. I can't / won't attempt to stop it and realize it's gonna happen..I just won't be a direct participant. Others can do what they choose. All of us don't want to necessarily live in / move to California.
Charles, what on earth conservitard propaganda have you been reading? There's no way that "THEY" are going to start dismantling the entire gas-powered vehicle infrastructure. What they're actually going to do is OVERLAY the EXISTING infrastructure with EV facilities. No big fuckin' deal!
Compare what's needed to service fossil fuel vehicles with what it takes to charge an EV: power (which is everywhere) and a charging station (about the size of a gas pump). I can plug in my car at the library, city hall, many conventional gas stations...and the list is growing.
Sustainable energy sources and electric power consumption are cheaper and easier than what we've been doing since the 19th century. Don't be afraid of it, Charles!

I don't care what you do or don't say, write, do, or fart. Disparage away until you turn purple and pass out. Do what gets you off..

My "mentality" is that I'd rather get 55 mpg (present vehicle) than 33 mpg (prior vehicle) and I'll definitely want to get 70 mpg (next vehicle) in the near future.
You could also say that my "mentality" is that I've been emptying my wallet into the coffers of those fossil fuel motherfuckers all my life, as well as watching the news breathlessly as we jump into wars and pay far more attention to sandy shitholes on the other side of the world than they warrant. I'm sick of it!
Aren't you?

A level 3 charging station can cost $40,000+ Looks like a big deal to me

China kevin would rather send our money to China who wants to dominate the world & wants to invade Taiwan. If successful China would then control 70% of the EV battery market, 70% of cobalt manufacturing & 60% of the chip market & 90% of the most advanced chips.
Does china kevin want us to buy chips from China where they would have access to our computer systems?

in 1980 2% of our energy came from wind and solar, in 2023 we get 2% of our energy needs from wind and solar, at this point in time, there is not a viable alternative to fossil fuels (other than nuclear energy). We do not have a grid that can support a massive shift to EV's. All we do now is buy the energy we need elsewhere instead of producing it all ourselves.
Not sure why having a hybrid solution is such a terrible idea until we can come up with a better solution to wind and solar as that will simply not cut it, you would have to have windmills and solar panels covering the entire United States and it still wouldn't be close to enough. You cannot store this energy and you cannot transport it, it is all local and only a fraction of the energy we use.
The good news is, the Dems are all getting rich off this climate change crap, so just shut up, use your paper straw, get your tenth booster shot, give Ukraine billions, wear a mask, protest Israel, fund Iran and their terrorist buddies, buy an EV, arrest parents at PTA meetings, support sex change operations for 10 year olds, let the criminals out of jail, open the border to thousands of terrorists (we don't have enough) and watch our economy take a giant dump in the next 6 months.
Oh, along with inflation and high gas prices and energy bills, going to be a fun winter, am sure it is all Trumps fault.
What is funny is, we didn't have any of these problems when he was running the country. Can't wait until he is back in charge and fixes all of Joe's fuckups, can't happen soon enough.

I didn't read the propaganda..I just made it all up with a little thought. I won't / can't fear what doesn't exist yet, either.
