Gas prices dropping like a rock

We do not have a grid that can support a massive shift to EV's. All we do now is buy the energy we need elsewhere instead of producing it all ourselves.

Not sure why having a hybrid solution is such a terrible idea until we can come up with a better solution to wind and solar as that will simply not cut it, you would have to have windmills and solar panels covering the entire United States and it still wouldn't be close to enough.  You cannot store this energy and you cannot transport it, it is all local and only a fraction of the energy we use.

The good news is, the Dems are all getting rich off this climate change crap, so just shut up, use your paper straw, get your tenth booster shot, give Ukraine billions, wear a mask, protest Israel, fund Iran and their terrorist buddies, buy an EV, arrest parents at PTA meetings, support sex change operations for 10 year olds, let the criminals out of jail, open the border to thousands of terrorists (we don't have enough) and watch our economy take a giant dump in the next 6 months.

Oh, along with inflation and high gas prices and energy bills, going to be a fun winter, am sure it is all Trumps fault.

What is funny is, we didn't have any of these problems when he was running the country. Can't wait until he is back in charge and fixes all of Joe's fuckups, can't happen soon enough.

Just an updated comment on those paper straws: they've now determined they are actually as or more toxic and damaging to the environment than the old plastic version. But that error isn't as bad as Gore telling us we'd all be dead by 2012 due to climate change ( and subsequent claims by AOC and the like);  some of the extremist climate change issues  might actually be devastating to population IQ scores for some, apparently.

Sea levels are rising as we speak..don a life jacket..

And your data is about as accuratte as everyone else on the right here.    Someday you guys are going to learn how easy it is to fact check BS in the age of the internet.   Maybe you'll also learn how to educate yourself with real data so you can have a more informed opinion.

US Energy supply by source

1 out of 5 homes right now is powered by Renewable energy in the UNited States.....and growing.    And just as importantly - so is employment in that sector.   SO when you say "Dems getting rich" you must mean the over 3 million people in high paying jobs that work in that sector (and growing)...vs coal mines that continually shrink their workforce whilst giving them black lung disease.

Have a high paying, smokeless, Green day

Charles, what are your thoughts on Miss Lindsey Graham call for us to kick off WWIII and destroy all of Iran's oil wells?  What do you think that will do to gas prices?

Never cared for Lindsey..stated that even in here. That move would be insane..ridiculously so. He's always been ready to blow shit up, which makes one wonder which defense contractors he's tied to. Further, he has a bad haircut. Honestly never cared for the guy.

Wow...spoken like a true Trumper. Your 2% figure for 2023 is utter bullshit BTW.

I don't need to comment further...the fact that you think Trump was a good leader speaks for itself (just like a drunk vomiting on the barroom floor does).

I painfully and quiescently  reside in a blue state ( currently and forever historically). Roughly 0.15% of vehicles registered in my state are EV's..there is no EV demand yet. Current gas price at the pump average is $4 / gallon. And you have no clue whatsoever regarding the community I live in nor what the dental configurations of the residents actually are. Typically you just blame all ills on Trump at every opportunity and employ derogatory hillbilly vernacular to those you disagree with as if it's an intelligent response. You really ought to let Trump go..you're negatively obsessed with him. You might want to find another dead horse to beat..might be healthier, etc.

So empty your wallett as you see fit. I'll do the same.

How much will you spend on charging costs for your gnat wagon battery? How much will you spend to replace the battery when / if it goes out? Do you assign any cost for convenience effort when you compare prices between gas / ICE vehicles? Are there any environmental concerns that conflict with the rainbow - nirvana EV production/ maintenance processes? When do you think all this EV transition process will actually be commonplace, and how much will it cost the taxpayer per mile? Will the IRS increase their mileage deduction allowances for EV's for business purposes? Can an average badger fly?

Hey, I'm feeling magnanimous, so I thought I'd answer your questions.

But first--there are red infestations within all blue states, to one extent or another. Hecky darn, we have the Cliven Bundy crowd raht hy'er in good ol' Oregon. So the makeup of your state may not reflect that of your community. And you know I don't blame all ills on Trump--silly of you to say that. I blame MANY ills on the evil idiot goobers who FOLLOW and WORSHIP him. And as far as what you consider an "obsession" with him? Well, he fucked up this country and there's an excellent chance he'll get the opportunity to do so again! I'll bet you would accuse someone watching the weather map in autumn in South Florida of being "hurricane obsessed." But as to your questions, some of which, I know, were rhetorical:

How much will you spend on charging? Currently, the cost of enough electricity to move a comparable car the same distance a gallon of gas would is $1.25. So, about $12.50 to go about 700 miles. (550 in my hybrid.)

Replace the battery? Aftermarket batteries are going to market at $800-$1000. Labor is about $500. The next generation of batteries will have a useful life of about 250,000 miles. So, once during the life of the car.

I do assign a cost for convenience, and EVs are currently a bit more of a pain to fuel. The infrastructure improvements I mentioned will largely negate that difference. But for me, it's worth the savings as it is.

Environmental concerns are the impacts of increased electrical power generation. That's why what you sneeringly call "the EV mentality" includes strong support for wind, solar, and other sustainable energy sources.

When will the transition be commonplace, as you put it? In a decade. How much will it cost the taxpayer? No idea. But I DO know the nigh-unfathomable cost of NOT doing it.

The IRS probably will alter its mileage deduction allowances, as it has every few years. Will they draw a distinction for EVs? Almost certainly not.

Can an average badger fly? Yes, but they're not allowed in Business Class.

1 out of 5 homes right now is powered by Renewable energy in the UNited States.

Now for the context of Pj's data.  Of the 21%, 6% comes from hydro& and we are not building any more dams.  Other sources are biomass (a pollutant) and another pollutant - wood.  Only a little more than 13% is wind and solar.

Now for the usual kevin lies.

Currently, the cost of enough electricity to move a comparable car the same distance a gallon of gas would is $1.25. So, about $12.50 to go about 700 miles. (550 in my hybrid.)

First - EV cars don't go 700 miles; try 250.

Charging an EV in public stations typically costs between $0.11 to $0.30 per kWh. Charging a Tesla for two full charges for a 300-mile road trip would cost between $22.00 to $60.00.

Assuming you can find one that works.

We've definitely had that experience,” Buttigieg told the Journal. According to the Energy Department's database of public EV chargers, around 6,261 of the 151,506 public charging ports were reported “temporarily unavailable” — or 4.1 percent of the total number.

Aftermarket batteries are going to market at $800-$1000. Labor is about $500.

Replacement costs for EV batteries are several thousand dollars.

And we still have the environmental issues with mining the required minerals, disposing of the batteries and the demands for additional electrical capacity.

Remember 10 years ago when Tom said EV vehicles were useless because they only got 50 miles per charge...and then we told him how that was going to get better in the furture?   And he shook his head and stomped his feet in denial?

Now here we are 10 years later and Tom is making the same argument with EV vehicles that get 5x as much range as they used to.   And when we show Tom the research that shows it getting even better going forward guess what Tom does?   Shakes his head and stomps his feet in denial

And who cares.      Tom is not a variable in the development schedule of EV vehicles.    He's just a very bitter man about losing the election.

Yeah, wow...that seems to have really traumatized him. I mean, watching videos of Biden for HOURS every. single. day. and waiting for him to stumble? And then rushing over to dozens of message boards (we're not the only ones) to post a video of it? And doing that and nothing else useful for two solid years?

Stupid Tommie-poo is an obsessive sicko.

I really don't see why conservitards should be so rabidly against EVs. The only thing I can think of is that the fossil fuel companies write big paychecks to their RepubliQ buddies--and those folks, in turn, tell people like Tom what to think and say.

The future is coming, and stupid Tommie-poo won't be in it. Good riddance.
