Gas Prices Soaring Nationwide

PJ has told us that the US is oil independent.  How much of the oil the United States consumes is imported?

PJ, if you believe that Biden was in any way encouraging oil exploration, you're a nut.

Since that term can be twisted by idiot propaganda-spewing conservitards to make any idiot argument they want, let's define it.

"Oil independent" means that a given country can meet all of its domestic consumption needs with domestic production alone. We can easily do that if need be. We DON'T do that now, because it's cheaper to buy it from Canada and other producers.

In some kind of domestic and/or global crisis that would prevent us from importing oil, we could make up for the shortfall by increasing production by about 40%. We have ample supplies, which is what makes us "oil independent." (And we always have.)

This is in contrast to most European nations, which MUST import oil. We choose to do that.

I realize I've gone WAAAAAY too deep for Boiler.

Please provide us a past oil production prediction that I've posted.  You can't, because I didn't.

I did say the Sleepy and friends, through both actions and words, have tremendously slowed drilling and development.  Why do I say that?  Because hundreds of oil company executives and state goverment officials from pro oil states have told us so.

Sleepy tells America one day he's going to crush the oil and gas industry, and the following week he complains that oil and gas companies aren't investing more in the business.  What a fucking idiot, and anyone who doesn't see it's a dolt.

You're the dolt, to argue against something Biden never said.

You LUVVV to put words in other people's mouths and then argue against them. It's weak to do that.

Todd, do you actually believe that Biden's policies and words have lead to more oil production and exploration?

It's not a matter of belief--though for you, belief is the only thing that matters. The facts are there--idiot.

No we can't.  If we lost our international purshases of sour crude we'd be toast.  Kevin once again proves that he talks often and knows little.

Yes, we can...and historically, we have (assuming you're talking about increasing oil production).

4,000 wells sit idle while the oil industry whines about Biden supposedly tying their hands.

Also, existing wells' production can be increased. What's in operation now is only at about 60% of full capacity.

So why do we import oil at all? Easy--it's cheaper. An important element of the cost of petroleum is what's called "lifting costs"--actually getting it out of the ground. In many other countries, those costs are much lower--so much so that it's still worthwhile to pay shipping costs.

I'm sorry, Boiler. I went over your head again.

Kevin, how do we refine the sweet crude?  Will it happen by magic?  We export expensive sweet crude and import less expensive sour crude.

Stop typing, you're proving your idiocy.

Boiler: WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH OIL!!!!!! DAMN THAT BIDEN!!!!!!

Everybody: Uh, yes, we do (multiple sources).

Boiler: I mean this special chocolate-covered oil that we can't live without!!!

Everybody: Then why do we use the regular oil?

Boiler: Um...we do.

Everybody: So what's the problem?

Boiler: DAMN THAT BIDEN!!!!!!

This "discussion" is over. You lost.

From kevin

You're the dolt, to argue against something Biden never said.

Here are just 2

“We are going to get rid of fossil fuels. 2/7/20

Then-candidate Joe Biden said in 2019 that he would “end” the fossil fuel industry in the United States. “I want you to look at my eyes. I guarantee you, I guarantee you we’re going to end fossil fuels,” he said in New Castle, New Hampshire.

4,000 wells sit idle while the oil industry whines about Biden supposedly tying their hands.  -

PROOF?

Also, existing wells' production can be increased. What's in operation now is only at about 60% of full capacity.

PROOF?

Biden has never said he would "crush" the oil industry. That's a Boiler fantasy un-quote.

The only legislation Biden has signed regarding oil was to increase available land for them to drill on.   And the politicians Boilerman supports voted against it.

One year ago Boilerman was on this very board explaining with his great insight in the field how the oil companies were already drilling as much as they could because Joe Biden wouldnt let them increase.    I know how to read a graph.  And the graph says Boilerman is full of shit.
