GDP falls 1.4% for the quarter.

U.S. GDP fell at a 1.4% pace to start the year as pandemic recovery takes a hit (cnbc.com)

Combine that with our 8.5% inflation rate and the Biden economy is spelling misery for America.   If this continues, I imagine he'll start calling it the Putin Recession before too long. Thanks Joe!

Is GDP growth a good metric for measuring the success of a president?

Be careful Charles, my question is a trap. If you answer "no" then your post is meaningless. If you answer "yes" I will make you look stupider than usual. Which is saying a lot.

Our current economic situation would be much worse if TFG was still ripping off the country.

Yeah, the "Biden economy"---like all those Biden tornadoes...and those Biden earthquakes...and Biden burned my grilled cheese sandwich yesterday.

Yeah, "misery for America"--highest wage growth in 30 years, near-record low unemployment. But conservitards have to be hypocrites, and blame Biden for inflation while giving him no credit for the booming economy. Because, y'know, Biden is only responsible for bad things.

Conservitards sure are fucking stupid!

And if Charles had actually READ the entire article, he might have perceived that the period in question was three whole months...which followed a year of over 6% GDP growth...and was affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. So this is another example of an ignorant conservitard cherry-picking data and misinterpreting it to boot.

Oh.  I see.  Democrats are quite happy with negative GDP and 8.5% inflation.  It's all Putin's fault.

Can anyone imagine what tune they'd be singing if this was actually a Trump adminstration with these exact numbers?

Can anyone imagine if Putin had invaded Ukraine under Trump?   Anyone really think Kevin Lewis or Mr. Picture or Vegas Todd would be defending Trump and blaming Putin?  Of course they wouldn't.  They would blame the Russian Invasion entirely on Trump.  They would blame our inflation on Trump and they would blame the declining GDP on Trump.  Because...wait for it....they blamed Trump for everything they could including Covid and Kevin's STDs.  If they say otherwise, you know they're lying.

So is it right to blame the Administration for the current state of the economy?  Be careful because it's a trick question.

It was like only yesterday (it was) that the lib gang here was bragging about the biden gang economy.

duh, stupid Tommie-poo may not know that we're in the midst of the OPPOSITE of a recession.

What do you say to people who simultaneously cry about inflation and the cure for inflation?    Its probably just better to point and laugh.

The red hot economy is slowing down - which is the whole point of raising interest rates.  And its how every inflationary cycle in history has been resolved.

But if Charles prefers we continue in an inflationary bubble he can support negative interest rates like the last candidate he voted for president.
