Getting what they voted for; farm bankruptcies up 46%

77% of Farmers voted for Trump. Farm bankruptcies are up 46%.  I wonder how many of them are smart enough to connect the dots as the primary cause of their failures is Trump's tarrifs, Trump's unprovoked war and Trump's immigration polices.

I'd be happy if the 77% that voted for Trump went bankrupt because everyone deserves to get what they voted for.

Mark , I did not read the link, but did notice that it is from 2025, meaning Trump probably had not been in office long enough to save or destroy these farms.  But if they were in trouble it might explain why they voted for change in Nov. of 24

Without a doubt farmers are hurt by:

-tariffs on their equipment, fertilizer, and raw materials

-Foreign boycotts on their crops resulting from Trump's trade war

-Labor shortage from deported workers

-High oil prices from the Iran war

There is a common denominator to all of those things.   Its direct policy from the man in the White House.

I feel inclined to help them because I think the government should try to help people who are financially stressed due to no fault of their own.   But then again all these farmers stomped their feet when we tried to ease the burden of college debt on middle class workers.....sooooooo.....

No Brent,  all the articles I have read on this topic say those three things I mentioned are the cause. Even the farmers in the various stories about this massive increase in farm bankruptcies blame those policies. Trump is very good at destroying things quickly.

But don't worry Trump has a solution.  He is going to let the Chinese buy the bankrupt farms so they can ship the crops to China.

The article is from Farm Bureau by the way.

I would never "be happy" for farmers, or any hard working people, having financial trouble.

I disagree with your statement that "everyone deserves to get what they voted for."  I get your context, that 'people' should be clairvoyant and always know what will occur when they vote.  People vote for what is 'promised', which does not always come about.

This is not an endorsement of Trump by me.

Yes, it's just common sense to trust the word of a man who was found by a jury to have commited 34 felonies related to his fraud and another jury and judge found he was a rapist. That's a guy I wouldn't need clairvoyance to figure out won't do good things.

Then they could just look at what Trump did when he was President last time. Spoiler there was a massive increase in farm bankruptcies because of Trump's first term polices and they had to be bailed out with Federal tax dollars. Then farm bankruptcies declined once Biden became President.

Again one doesn't have to be clairvoyant to remember their first hand experiences the last time Trump was in office.

I don't have any sympathy for someone who votes against their Business interests three times in a row.

what's the old saying? Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice and shame on me.

Or as Mark Twain said, there is nothing to be learned from the second kick of a mule.

I can have sympathy for people who voted for Trump.

Its much harder to have sympathy for people who cry about "welfare checks " to "other people" whilst having their hand out for their own.

Sorry, Candy, that dog don't hunt. It was perhaps a decent excuse in 2016. But in 2024, they all knew what they were getting. They knew--if they had even a pea-brain--that Trump is an idiot, evil, and a liar. Entrusting him with the economy was like giving whiskey and the car keys to a teenage boy.

Really, really, Candy, did anyone need to be clairvoyant to know what was going to happen with Trump at the wheel? Did anyone need more than six brain cells to know that Trump's promises were complete and utter lies?

I do in fact want to see Elmer and Goober dry up and blow away as "retribution" for having voted for that orange fascist and helping to ruin our nation. Fuck them and the pig they rode in on

Forgot one more. During the campaign Trump talked about enacting tariffs over and over again. It was Trump's tariffs that bankrupted the farmers in his first term. They definitely didn't need clairvoyance to see that because Trump said it over and over again.

The trouble they were in stemmed from Turdiffs, which were implemented early enough in 2025 to completely fuck over that farm year, and the massive labor shortages caused by the Turd Crusade Against Filthy Immigrants.

Farming is a precarious occupation. It's both capital- and labor-intensive, is subject to multiple unpredictable external factors, and requires great managerial skills. The goobers who went belly-up were already on the edge of the cliff, and Trump pushed them off.

The German people voted for change in 1933. They got it.
