Goober migration

The fastest-growing cities, as well as those expected to gain most in population by 2030, are all in the south and southwest. The primary reason is the aging of the population. Older folks like warmer climates. Most of the states involved are dead-red, and because they provide a criminally low level of public services, have low taxation. But the oldsters don't care about things like parks, roads, and schools anyway.

I watched some Fox Nooze talking head crow about this. He said that the RepublQ would pick up several Congressional seats after the 2030 census. BUT...I wonder...

Arizona used to be safely in the red state column--until it turned blue. Texas, for Gawd's sake, is turning purple. Georgia is turning blue. Even Florishit is showing signs of blueness. So whaddya think--will this inevitable demographic shift make the MAGA goober states even more stupid and evil, or will it humanize them?

Nice to see that you are getting the real, truthful, factual news by watching Fox. Apparently you have realized that you favorite fake news sources - CNN, MSNBC, etc - have lied to you for years - and continue to do so.

The population shift is well known, and the Fox goober "reporter" obviously learned about it from an actual news source, like CNN.

What will you do when Texas turns blue? Kill yourself?

  Texas will always be red.

kevin continues to live in a world of delusion

The primary reason is the aging of the population

The facts

According to the Move.org report, 65% of the people who moved were between the ages of 25 and 44

Citadel founder and CEO Ken Griffin suggested on Tuesday that Miami could eventually replace New York City as the financial capital of America. “New York is the financial capital of America today, and it’s New York’s to lose,” Griffin told Bloomberg at a conference in the southern Florida city.

Low job growth combined with a lack of urban settings that appeal to young adults has resulted in out-migration of working-age people to surrounding states such as Arizona, Nevada, Oklahoma, and Texas in search of city life and better job opportunities.  (prb.org)

According to the Atlantic here are some reasons these areas are growing: Cheap housing. lower cost of living,  opportunity, a “business-friendly” environment, low taxes and warm winters

Georgia is turning blue

The statewide offices are all Republican.  The congressional delegation is Republican majority as well as the legislature.  The democrats have done well in the Senate races due more to terrible Republican candidates.

In Arizona the Reublicans have the Congressional majority & control the legislature.  Very poor candidates for governor & senator caused them to lose the executive branch.

But the oldsters don't care about things like parks, roads, and schools anyway.

NYC has hardly any parks when compared to its population.  Florida and Arizona have plenty of parks & very nice highways.  Has kevin ever driven on the West Side Highway or the FDR Drive?  How about the parking lots known as the Cross Bronx Expressway, VanWyck or the LIE?  How about the Deegan?  A 20-30 mile drive from the suburbs can take 90 minutes. Then there are the $13 bridge tolls.

In Florida and Az the schools remained open and enrollment is growing.  NYC schools enrollment has been declining & the incompetent Board of Ed doesn't know where many of the missing students are.

Az has school choice so parents aren't held hostage to lousy public schools.

Yeah, stupid Tommie-poo, Central Park obviously doesn't exist in your world.

If NYC was a Republican city, the Park would have been bulldozed and the land would have been converted to corporate headquarters and luxury mansions long ago--after all, it's ideally located for all that.

Stupid Tommie-poo.

That's what they said about Arizona. And Nevada, for that matter.

I agree that Texas will always be chock-full of idiots. Yee-haw!

Recent reporting is showing people beginning to flee Florida due to high homeowners insurance rates. The trend is in a few years there are going to be more people leaving the state than relocating there. Soon the old goobers won't be able to afford to live there anymore. I say send them to Alabama or Mississippi so they can see what it is like living in the heart of MAGA country.

A large part of the reason Florida home insurance rates are so high is that when a flood or fire or hurricane is coming, the people there 1) pray, 2) drink, 3) run into walls, 4) text Trump for advice, or 5) stare at Fox Nooze.

The other disincentive to live in Florida is that their low tax structure leads to lousy and inadequate infrastructure and services. I mean, fuck...every time a hurricane hits there, they all get clobbered, as if it was a total surprise and they had no way of preparing for it. A sane state would spend money (GAWRSH! Gummint a'spendin'!) to prepare for and mitigate the damage.

Oh, and let's not forget the recent concerted efforts to drive one of the state's largest employers away. If and when that succeeds, a LOT of people will run away screaming, never to return.

Central Park obviously doesn't exist in your world.

More kevin ignorance as NYC ranks last in green space.

If each resident of New York were allocated his or her own patch of grass from the city’s existing green spaces, we each would get 146 sq ft. Sound like a sizeable lawn to you? Apparently not. Last week, telematics company Geotab published a study that depicted the amount of green space per a person in major cities across the United States. Out of the 15 U.S. cities in the study, New York came in last.

https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/new-york-ranks-last-for-amount-of-green-space-per-resident-among-the-major-us-cities/1529935/

Mark's article still shows a net migration with a population growth of almost 2% in one year & none of those that leave are moving back to the northern states.

According to Census Bureau data, between April 2020 and July 2022, New York City’s estimated population slumped from 8.80 million to 8.34 million, a drop of roughly 468,000 residents & $3.7 illion in revenue— nearly 5.3% of the city’s total population.

About hurricanes

as if it was a total surprise and they had no way of preparing for it. A sane state would spend money (GAWRSH! Gummint a'spendin'!) to prepare for and mitigate the damage.

kevin lies again

After a hurricane Florida is up and running within a few days. NYC took over 10 years to rebuild from 1 hurricane.
