You described perfectly what is illegal and that's why all of the "criminal" investigations of sanctuary cities will end up the same way as Trump's legal cases to overturn the 2020 election.

Sanctuary Cities by their definition do not volunteer immigration intelligence to the Federal government.    That's not synonymous with "withholding immigration intelligence from the Federal government ".     There is no law that requires local and state police to enforce federal laws....and vice versa.   That's why the FBI doesn't enforce speeding tickets in your neighborhood.   It's called separation of powers,  some cities do volunteer immigration intelligence to the Feds.  That's fine.   It's not required - hence the word volunteer.

now, if police or local officials  actively obstruct a Federal investigation you have a case.    Nothing of that sort has been reported to my knowledge.    Feel free to refute that statement with evidence if it exists.

By the way, tom, did you read this article you posted? I find it interesting. Some highlights:

Remember when MAGA said it couldn't be an insurection because there weren't any weapons? The criminal code doesn't require weapons, so wrong again, and people brought many kinds of weapons, including guns.

"On Jan. 10, after learning that Texas law enforcement agents had questioned the Texas Three Percenters’ leader, Reffitt sent messages to several other group members informing them about the leader’s questioning, telling them to “[b]e prepared, the S— is now hitting the fan,” and “Startpurge of all previous conversations. Destroying evidence.

For this, he was originally sentenced to 7 years and 2 months, which seems appropriate to me.

Poor Reffitt had his feelings hurt, and he was upset by the libs, poor MAGA baby.

I'm sure some evidence of that could be found, but I know of none either. I'm not sure everybody would stop screaming / raising hell if we had presented 40 refereed legal journal articles on that subject, anyway?

Well, keep in mind that Trump thinks he has unlimited power, and MAGA thinks he should have it, so existing laws and legal precedent aren't going to have much meaning during the next four years.

As PJ said, cities are neither required nor able to enforce federal immigration laws. But the real issue here is whether they intend to cooperate with Trump's mass deportations, which will target legal and illegal immigrants alike. Horrid, festering Republican cities filled with MAGAs will be enthusiastically cooperative. Blue cities filled with decent people won't.

MAGA wants to make NOT hating FEELTHY IMMERGENTS a criminal offense. They don't care about the law as such. They want to make immigration itself illegal. Then will come making black and brown people illegal.

Nope..it won't ever reach the extremes you outline in most of your above presentation. But keep searching for some sunshine.
