Great News for Skeeter and Bobby Ray !

I have no problem with arresting people who intentionally hire illegals, but that doesn’t solve the problem of people crossing the border illegally. What do you do about them?

Easy. If you think that illegal immigration is an existential threat to the US and that we must stop it AT ANY COST, you build a ten-mile-high wall, man it with sentries placed every fifty feet armed with chain guns and bazookas, and for that matter, dig a thousand-foot-deep trench and flood it with water. Add piranhas and crocodiles. And if any no-good Messkin slips through and you catch him, burn him alive and post the video on ICE's Facebook page.

Or, alternatively, you don't get exercised about it because the people who come here illegally are just trying to find decent-paying work and often, take jobs that other folks don't want. Expending massive resources just to track down, beat senseless, and deport some poor soul of a campesino who is trying to make a living here seems like a stupid waste.

I mean, really, Trump's rhetoric, the MAGA hat-wearing base, Fox News, and racist Republicans aside, what harm does it do to have these people here? They're working shit jobs for low pay, and there obviously must be demand for that. They're not all "criminals and rapists." They're just people.

The smarter people on this board might realize that what I'm implying is that the reason we don't exert a lot of effort to stop illegal immigration is that (once again, Trump's rhetoric aside) it isn't worth exerting a lot of effort to stop. (And yes, Sean Hannity, I know they are flooding into this country and sucking up social services and making anchor babies and freeloading off the hardworking God-fearing American taxpayer and putting up their goddamn taco stands belch grunt snort.)

I haven't noticed anyone opposed to legal immigration.  Yeah, I know, it must be a Fox News talking point.

Fines for hiring.....fines for renting and no government benefits (other than life saving efforts) to illegal aliens.  If we were to do this along with deporting criminal aliens, I doubt you'd even need a wall.  Makes so much sense, that it explains why the government hasn't contemplated it.

Traditionally, it has been Republican governments and or Republican government officials that have vehemently been opposed to punishing corporations that get caught intentionally hiring illegals. Anyway, why would you just fine the corporation? They will just consider it a cost of doing business and continue doing what they were doing. If there weren't jobs at some of these large food processing plants for illegal immigrants, quite a few of them would decide to stay home.  The food processing businesses knowingly hire illegal migrants. Then they encourage their employees to talk to their friends and families back home and tell them they have jobs waiting for them when they get here. Hell Trump ran this same scam to staff his golf courses for years. There was one village in Costa Rica where almost everybody had one family member or more that had worked at a Trump golf course at one time or another.

Nothing will ever get done other than BS propaganda like, "Build a wall," because the Republican elites see illegal immigrants as a supply of cheap labor to drive corporate profits higher and depress American wages. IMO lock those corporate officers up in cages along with their families, make them drink out of a toilet and deny them things like showers and toothbrushes. What's good for the goose is good for the gander isn't it? Why is it you want to cruelly punish individuals and their children for simply seeking a better life yet you want to merely slap the corporations that lure them here with the promise of jobs on the wrist. If you are serious about combating illegal immigration you need to shut down the human trafficking these corporate criminals engage in.

Kevin needs to study has economics and history.  I won't attempt to coach him as he appears to be uncoachable.

Mark you are so shortsighted, it's hard to try to assist.  Fine them stiffly, make it hurt.  Second offense?  Make it worse.  Third offense, send them to jail.  I have NOOOO problem with making the punishment fit the violation.

And if the same was done with landlords, you'd be whining about punishing the little guys.

Government, democrats AND republicans thrive by making you think that these kinds of problems are so very complex that they cannot be solved.  It isn't that tough.  Without jobs, without places to live and without government benefits, there would be an obvious human wave heading south.  Not very complex to me.

How many such university-level courses have you taken, my friend? I've taken eight economics and twelve history courses. And I got A's in all of them.

This is your cue to sling some kind of stupid personal insult like "then you obviously didn't learn anything" or "it must have been in a liberal snowflake school." If you're stupid, defend yourself by saying smart people aren't really smart. God, Trump loves you uneducated people!

On the one side, we have the accumulated wisdom of scholars over several decades. On the other side, we have Boilerman. I think I know who I want to listen to.

But did any of you Trumpers actually look up the economic multiplier effect and how immigration (legal or not) affects it? You might actually learn something. But then, learning something about this issue is the absolute last thing you Trumpers want.

Mark, I agree that Republicans pay lip service to opposing illegal immigration on one hand while profiting immensely from it on the other. Hell, Trump employs hundreds of not thousands of illegals.

What I don't agree with is the position that this is some kind of horrible crisis and that we're being "invaded" or that we're "under sttack." That's just bogus fearmongering, meant to mentally masturbate Trump's base.

The awful negative consequence of that is that of all the Trumpers sitting in their mothers' basements, clutching their guns, and masturbating while fantasizing about killing Hispanics, a few actually jump in their pickup trucks and go out and do it. When they have moral qualms about it, they reason, "This is what Master Trump wants me to do."

As usual, Kevin is being his normal insulting self with any and everyone who does not agree with his liberal views. Cut to the chase Kevin and take your twisted mentality and spend a few days on the border and observe. Talk to the people who reside there and ask them about their reality with illegals. Until then, please refrain from spouting off about something that you have no first hand knowledge about.

"we're being "invaded" or that we're "under sttack." That's just bogus fearmongering"

What does kevin call 70-100,000 people illegally crossing the border every month?

Kevin, I stopped after your first sentence.  If you don't understand the consept of supply and demand and it's effects on price, then there is no need to talk.  You will never understand.
