Happy 4th,all!

On the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence adoption, there's a ton to be thankful for  amongst all the current US division and strife. There was plenty of division and strife in 1776 as well. This document represented the initial and formal stance against British tyranny, and was an  important stepping stone towards our drafted and enacted Constitution a few years later. The provided liberty and freedoms that followed have been the envy of the world in many respects for nearly 250 years. One provided liberty , eg 'free speech', is tested daily in this forum platform; there are a ton of alternate current locales outside the US where such a platform would land the participants in deep doo-doo.

Corny, indeed..but go ahead and pass the Sweet Baby Ray's sauce, please. Be thankful for..something.Happy 4th!

Thanks for your kind wishes, and back at ya!

This is a particularly poignant 4th, because it may be our last one as a free nation. Rather than hot dogs, ballgames, and fireworks, our next 4th may feature book-burning parties and coffles of immigrants being matched down Main Street on their way to detention camps. Instead of the Star Spangled Banner, we'll all be forced to sing "The Great Trump."

So let's cherish what we have. It may be going away.
