I've just now got my 'makings' made, headed over to brother's house for big crowd, big food, TV, kiddos, and lotsa love.  Happy Thanksgiving Day everyone!  

Did you know that America is the ONLY country with "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" in its founding charter?  At least I read that...today.

Soon, the L-tryptophan (sp?) will kick in, all across America. 

The best part of Thanksgiving dinner for me has always been the leftovers. Turkey sandwiches! Much better than the mega processed sliced deli meats.

Oh, and mince pie is vastly superior to pumpkin.

Many nations formed both before and since the US have similar wordings in their founding documents. We like to style ourselves that we invented freedom or democracy or something. We didn't.

Examples of the above are the Grundgesetz (Basic Law) of postwar Germany, the initial proclamation of the Icelandic Althing, the charter of Israel, the Constitution of South Africa (post-apartheid), the founding documents of India...even the Magna Carta. Ancient Athens issued a proclamation regarding the rights of citizens that is strangely reminiscent of the preamble to the Declaration of Independence.

I think we need to update that phrase, though. How about "Sensible shoes, beer, and a secure internet connection?"

Enjoy your Thanksgiving, all! I'm cherishing this one because it's one of our last as a free people. I hope the decline is slower than I fear. In the meantime, as the Germans would say, "Man muss Festes feiern," or, "You must celebrate."

Happy Thanksgiving to all !    I was really hoping poor David made a friend to spend the Holiday with this year.....but it looks like he spent Turkey Day with a tv dinner and his MAGA Facebook feed again.    

that's a tragedy.

It's a blessing, considering that if he hadnt been alone, he would have made someone else's Thanksgiving miserable by screaming at them and calling them liars.

It really is the ultimate sign of MAGA Delusion Syndrome combined with boredom to spend Thanksgiving making forum posts about...Elon Musk...?

David is lonely. He deserves to be. But I'm glad to hear that everyone else here had a good time with friends and family. We had several deaths in the family over the last year, so our crowd was smaller than usual. There was a bit of poignancy present.

  It warms my heart to see that Lewis is concerned about how I spent my Thanksgiving day. I see where he states that the turnout for his Thanksgiving was smaller than in the past, while attributing it to there being "several deaths" in his family. The "several deaths" part may be true, but possibly the real reason the turnout was  smaller could be attributed to the fact that they have grown tired of his hateful, lying filthy mouth and they said to themselves "enough is enough". I know that everyone appreciated his absence yesterday here in the Sink - it was so pleasant because the Sink was devoid of his non stop lies and his hateful rhetoric. 

Did anyone other than you express that "appreciation"?
