What you want to remember is that the Republicans and now MAGA have been trying to dismantle Obamacare for 15 years! 15 years, and they don't have anything to replace it with. If you work for a big corporation, you have great, inexpensive health insurance; if you work for a small business, you might have OK, affordable health insurance. If you work for a very small company, or retire before 65 years old, or are self-employed, you're screwed.

Remember what Trump said in 2016?

"President-elect Donald Trump is putting the finishing touches on an Obamacare replacement plan that aims to provide “insurance for everybody,” he told The Washington Post.

Also, he will demand that drug companies negotiate directly with Medicare and Medicaid and lower their prices, saying they will no longer be “politically protected.”"

None of that happened, and now MAGA has shut down the government to stop people from affordable insurance coverage with no plan to replace it. Just the same failed promises of the past. Pathetic.

The non-profit I work for has roughly 350 employees. Our mission is to provide services to disabled and elderly people. Our insurance is through the exchange. They give us a $500 allowance meaning they pay for the first $500 of Obamacare and the rest is paid out of payroll deductions. 

The amount is obviously different for each employee. They are terrified they are going to lose all of their management,

low level supervisors and rank and file  over this. Effectively for a lot of folks this is going to be a four figure monthly pay cut on top of the massive food inflation Trump's tariffs are causing. 

Bottom line there are a ton of mid-sized companies and non-profits that are going to go out of business because they use the exchange to cover their employees. I sure am glad

my house sale closed on Friday and I have that money in the bank now.

We here in Oregon, thank God, have a universal health plan that dates back to 1994. No one can be denied coverage, and premiums are capped at 130% of overall market.

Denying people food and medical care seems to be a MAGA priority. Stone cold evil.

Trump is still he pretending he has a better healthcare plan to replace Obamacare.   That was one of a double digit number of lies he told on 60 minutes last night.

Hi Max.  In 2017, the Republicans introduced Ryancare.  It was their alternative to the ACA.  It passed 217-213 in the House with 20 Republicans voting against it.  It was voted down 51-49 in the Senate with Susan Collings, Lisa Murkowski, and John McCain voting no. I don't believe they have had a legitimate plan since.  Take care over there on the Front Range.

Ryancare was an absolute joke. Among other failings, it was NOT a universal plan; many people wouldn't have qualified. The premiums would have been almost double what Obamacare charged, as Ryancare had no tax credits to speak of. But hey, MAGA politician jets are expensive! (Not if Qatar gives you one, though, lol.)

Here's the big problem now:

Trump's tarriffs are about to be overturned....which means all that money he got for the government will need to be returned...   Translation : higher deficit.

Republicans are going to have to deal with the fact their constituents are going to be furious with the helathcare premium increase.   So they'll eventually fix it.    Translation : higher deficit.

The Big Beautiful Bill and DOGE cuts have already been outed as a bust and an exercise in fiscal stupidity.

Translation : higher deficit.

Trump trade wars, immigrant deportations and DOGE cuts to the gov workforce  is actively unemploying millions.  Translation : higher deficit.

In summary.  Higher deficit.

Wasn't obamcare supposed to reduce premiums?  Instead the democrats had to temporarily pass more credits to pay for it.  Now they are mad their temporary bill is expiring.

Without extending the tax rates it would have been the largest tax increase in history.  Somehow in liberal mind eliminating wastefull programs and having less employees costs more money?  Liberal math.

Less immigrants on the federal tit means less spending.  Cuts to the gov workforce saves money.  Millions unemployed?
