Here come the A's

As expected MLB approved the move of the A's to Vegas.  I have been watching this idiot Brodie Brazil on You Tube who actually thought this wasn't going to happen.

While the fix was in for the move, many problems remain in no particular orider

1- The state financing could still fall thru

2- Nothing can be done until the Trop comes down sometimes next year

3-The site is too small & no place to park

4- There is no design for the stadium

5- The proposed park is to small

6- They are projecting 90%+ attendance every game.  Nobody is going to show up for teams like the Pirates/Nationals/Marlins

7- They are assuming 7,000 tourists for every game

8- Fisher still doesn't have all the financing

9-They have no place to play after 2024

10- The team is terrible, with a weak farm system

Personally, I couldn't care less. Anyone in the future visiting Vegas will be assesed higher room rates, higher room taxation, higher costs across the board - all for the "privilege" of attending a game. People have been brainwashed to think that being at a game is something of value, when in reality, it is just a 2-3 hour diversion at great expense. The stupidity of the "sports fan" is mind boggling.

I have to say I agree 💯 with David. A's games are just more dates to cross off my Vegas calendar. If Vegas keeps adding sports/motorsports I can see having to cross Vegas off my calendar all together.

Hey, Lying Lewis, this post by Mark is just more proof that others here DO read my posts - and sometimes respond.

It was Tom's thread. I should clarify--nobody responds to the threads you start. I have granted you the privilege of a response to posts you make on threads started by others.

It's no big deal. The games won't be nearly as well attended as Raiders' games--Oakland crowds rarely top 15,000. Plus, due to recent rule changes, MLB games average less than three hours. So, overall, not all that much disruption.

Keep checking in - I will continue to post responses and new threads - and others will continue to read and respond to them.

Others will ignore them, as they have for months. You virtually never receive responses to your Fakebook rants.

And you know why? If anyone expresses disagreement with you, you scream at them, call them a liar, and say that they are destroying America. Do you think anyone wants that?

It's sad that you're ignored--but it's your own fault.

Since nobody who lives in Vegas is from there originally it stands to reason there wouldnt be a huge local fan base....but the Golden Knights seem to knock that theory down.   It helps to have a good team.

I dont know if they are going to have a dome or not but an outdoor baseball game in Vegas in July with 110 degrees on the thermometer doesnt sound like a fun time to me.    If they were to make the playoffs you could have a scenario where the baseball, football, and hockey teams all have a game on the same day in October.   Wouldnt that be fun for commuters?

Unbelievably, many of the proposed plans were for an open-air stadium, and one of the less sentient planners said that they could just play all home games in the evening. That bozo must never have been in Vegas at 7:00 on a July evening. It's actually the very hottest time of day.

The history of MLB teams relocating to markets that hadn't had a major-league baseball team before is rocky. Some franchises never made it (Seattle Pilots), some lasted a while but ultimately left (Montreal Expos), and some thrived after a slow start (Arizona D-Bags). There's no guarantee that the A's will succeed. I think the killer is that even if you have a domed stadium with a/c, who the hell is going to want to walk there? Nobody.

I'm sad to see the A's leave the Bay Area. I was there during the glory years, the Billy Ball era, the Moneyball era, etc., as well as some of the most awful teams ever to take the MLB field. Whatever the current performance of the team, though, you could always get good seats. And BART stops right at the stadium, so you could park one or two stations away for free and buy a $6 round trip ticket.
