Uh, Say what?
People dont go to prison for things that are not a crime. And yes, illegal campaign money laundering is a felony.
Cohen's conviction
Cohen isn't going to prison for campaign money laundering because that's not what he did. Mueller didn't do anything about it, because that's not what Cohen did. The New York prosecutors that got the Cohen cases were very agressive because Cohen had worked for Trump. That is why they added what was nondisclosure agreements and payments to a plea deal package that labeled them as campaign finance violations. They knew Cohen would take the whole plea package for leniency on the other charges. He is going to prison for tax evasion, bank fraud and lying before congress. The prosecutors didn't make AMI plead guilty to a crime after they bought the rights to the Playmate's story, and buried the story. ...because that, like Cohen's nondisclosure agreements, was not a campaign finance violation, and they didn't have some other real charges to bargain with. The only reason the New York prosecutors did these things was to try to set precedent for use in the future against president Trump. That's what slimy lawyers do. Did you see the darling of the left, a beacon of moral legal behavior, Michael Avenatti, making statements on camera at Cohen's sentencing? Anything he's involved in will smell real bad...
