The accusations, published by The Guardian on Wednesday, were made during a Monday Zoom call organized by “Survivors for Kamala,” a group supporting Vice President Kamala Harris. The Trump campaign wasted no time in responding, with National Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt issuing a strong and detailed statement. “These accusations, made by a former activist for Barack Obama and announced on a Harris campaign call just days before the election, are unequivocally false. It’s obvious this fake story was contrived by the Harris campaign to distract from the deeply concerning and newly unearthed allegations that the Second 'Gentleman,' Doug Emhoff, 'forcefully slapped' his ex-girlfriend and impregnated his nanny,” Leavitt said. She continued, “It's shameful that Kamala Harris, who wants to be the first female President, would use a woman to spread baseless lies about her opponent while covering up the truth about her own husband. Fake allegations like this are a disservice to women who are truly victims of assault, like the women in Doug Emhoff's past.”Adding to the skepticism surrounding the accusations, FEC records obtained by MxM News show that Williams has been politically active for years, contributing to Barack Obama's campaign in 2008 and self-reporting her occupation as a strategist for “Green Order/Clean Tech for Obama.” In addition, the description of an image of Williams on the image hosting site, Imago, details "her life long passion for organizing by working with Clean Tech for Obama." As the election approaches, these accusations appear to follow a familiar pattern of politically motivated attacks against the former president aimed at swaying voters in the final moments of an election.
