Here's what preparing for life looks like

Nope, he's not lucky.  In another decade, he will be prepared fully.  By the way, he's 26 years old and has no reason to worry about getting corona.  If he gets it, he will be fine.

People his age have contracted it and died all over the world. Escaping that would be another example of luck.

And anyone "prepared for life" would wear a mask in public. I'll bet he doesn't. He thinks he's immune; he thinks he can't infect others. Just like he when he goes into the back yard to play with his guns, he's never going to accidentally kill a neighbor. No siree Bob.

In Indiana, 1 person out of the 4.6 million people under the the age of 30 have died from corona.  My son is in outstanding health.  He will be fine if he gets the virus.  He does not think he's immune, but he understands the statistics that some don't.

Kevin's quote regarding my 26-year-old boy.

"People his age have contracted it (corona) and died all over the world. Escaping that would be another example of luck."

Here are the facts about my son's "luck" regarding corona.  In Indiana, some 1500 people of all ages have died from corona.  Indiana has a population of 4.6 million people under the age of 30, and ONE of these people has died from corona.  Kevin assures us that my son will be lucky not to die from the virus, even though my son is in great health.

Kevin also tells us that my son is lucky for not having to march off to war.  Since no one has done so involuntarily for 50 years, I doubt that my boy will be doing in war anytime soon.  Kevin looks far and wide for excuses to justify little effort and less success, and that's the perfect recipe for failure.

Better now?

You know Kevin I bet these same people think the village idiot prepared himself for life even though he inherited his money.

No pats for my back.  All of the hard work being addressed here came from my son.

So what? A farm horse works hard.

Though I must observe, farm horses aren't so stupid as to smoke. Have you taught your son to light up--to prepare for life the way you did?

It's sad that anyone, including Kevin, concentrated an entire life on the obstacles, thus not preparing for life.

Nah.  Me thinks that the boy is probably a chip off the old block.  Congrats, Boilerman.  A son to be proud of.

That's what's called "projection," when you project your own feelings onto others. And I supposed that's how you feel about people who have achieved much more than you. Which is sad.
