A complete lie. If they're being given shelter by the government, then they are LEGAL immigrants. So, never happened.
Stupid Tommie-poo.
And if some Veterans were being put up in a hotel, they were being given shelter by the government, and likely have someone/some agency in the background to re-locate them if required to vacate. The facts aren't clear there.
"Homeless" anything makes headlines, especially homeless Veterans. Sad to say but like other "homeless", some prefer it to the structure necessary to be taken care of/housed. Getting de-toxed/rehabed, agreeing to be 'homed', meeting with social workers, signing papers, checking in. Rules of a 'home' such as no smoking/drugs, curfew, etc. drive some to abandon their place, after a lot of work to find them a place and get them settled. Homelessness is a comples issue, believe it or not. In many cases they have burned bridges with family, friends. Sad, sad.
A vet may come home from deployment a different person from the one who kissed their loved ones good-bye.
