HOUSMAN: The Real ‘Lie Of The Year’

Originally posted by: Kevin Lewis

What a horrid, stupid, evil, nasty little speech to spew on Christmas Day.

The election always is "of great magnitude and importance"--but not the way Davey Pig means it: when his side wins. It has been of great magnitude and importance every time it was held, regardless of who won. And it most assuredly IS a "team contest"--because all of America participates. I know that Davey Pig thinks that only his side's opinions and views are valid. He continually refers to his mere opinions as "THE TRUTH."

And to speak to him directly: AMERICA IS GREAT NOW. Fuck you for saying that it isn't. No one has "ruined" or "destroyed" America. Our nation is intact, functional, and wealthy. Fuck you for saying otherwise!

I'm a patriot. That means that I oppose the party that tried to overthrow the government; the party that makes its hay by seeking to divide us and sow fear among us; the party of pessimism and hate; the party of misogyny and racial bigotry.

We're a great nation, and will still be even after the Turd oozes into the White House.

I and millions of other Americans stand by what I have said. You, on the other hand are not a "patriot" - you are a liar, an instigator and a sad excuse for an American - you are what is wrong with America.

Standing by what you've said isn't noble or honorable if what you said was disgusting nonsense.

I'm not a liar for disagreeing with you and I'm an American as much as you are or anyone else is, but I'm a far, far better person than you.

And whatever may be wrong with America, it's not that many people disagree with YOU. How arrogant you are!

I'm going to let you go back into your hole and sulk now. Candy wanted to lighten the mood, and you attacked her for that. You don't deserve to see the light of day. You're repulsive.

Merry Christmas.

There was no attack by me towards Candy. You are making shit up again, as is your forte. There is/was nothing I said that was nonsense - if you wish to read real nonsense, read what you have written. It is not "arrogance" when what is said is the truth - a concept that you have no understanding of.

You snarled at her when she DARED to suggest in "YOUR" Kitchen Sink that we talk about something pleasant.

And now, you don't even have the balls to admit it. You're a nasty piece of garbage. And yes indeed, you ARE both arrogant and a fool.

You have no honor or decency. Fuck off. Feel free to reply to this with aome self-serving Davey dogshit--I'm done talking to you. Go die in your mommy's basement.

Agree with your analysis mostly, Kevin.  George Bailey wanted to see the world, "plan modern cities" etc. after going to college.  But at every turn his plan is thwarted.  His father dies suddenly, leaving the Building and Loan, the town's one place "people could go to without having to crawl to Potter" in jeopardy.  Only if George would take over 'temporarily' would it be kept from being grabbed by greedy Potter.  George doesn't care for the Building and Loan but he cares for the townspeople who depended on it, so he reluctantly agrees to put his plan on hold.  His brother, Harry, who was 'supposed' to take over the Building and Loan after college, which would have allowed George to start on his plan to "see the world", instead returns home with his college sweetheart who's father was offering him a job with a good future.  Harry marries the girl.  So honorable George is still stuck with the Building and Loan.

Then George's boozy Uncle Billy misplaces the Building and Loan's money, unknowingly letting it fall into Potter's hands.  This was the straw, the lowest point.  George knew it wasn't his fault..."I just misplaced eight thousand dollars."  But he took that burden on, which was too much, couldn't see a way out for him and his customers, becoming suicidal.  Potter is rather the face of 'evil' in a way.  He knew he had the Building and Loan's money due to Uncle Billy's carelessness, but keeps it and is ready to let George fail, go to prison, especially after George humbles himself to ask Potter for a loan so he could keep things afloat until the money is found, which of course it never would be.

This to me is one point, being the best kind of person all his life, never letting anyone down, and look what's happening.  It is too much, and George has become suicidal.  But wait...he sees a drowning man and jumps into the freezing river to save a total stranger, who of course turns out to be Clarence the Angel sent down to save George so he could "win my wings".  Now George is really defeated, he can't even commit suicide without somebody stopping him, which of course is the point where things turn for him, though he can't see it, decides "everyone would be better if I'd never been born."

I think that is the main moral, as Clarence said to him when brushing snow off Harry Bailey's 'tombstone', that "each man's life affects so many others" in ways unknown.

Yes, a fantasy, but one hell of a movie.  An unlikely hero, in a way.

Nice to see you👋

A more modern day "Christmas" movie, if one is tired of the usual happy holiday fluff, is "The Family Stone".  Starring Diane Keaton as mother of a "bohemian" family are gathering at Mom and Dad's house.  Dad played by Craig T. Nelson. Everyone brings their baggage (emotional stuff, differences), while Mom is hoping that all get along.  About 3 sons, 2 daughters (I may have that wrong); all are anticipating the arrival of one of the sons with his girlfriend, played by Sarah Jessica Parker.  This son, played by Dermot Mulroney, is a very buttoned up type, with girlfriend SJP being double uptight, worried about being accepted by the family and overdoing everything to the point of annoyance to some of the others, especially one of the sisters, while her boyfriend isn't helping with his uptightness and low tolerance of anything that doesn't go according to Hoyle.  One daughter is already primed to be critical of SJP, and from the get go the two are already sparing without realizing/acknowleging it.  SJP calls her sister, played by Claire Danes, to come for moral support.  Mom (Diane Keaton) tries to maintain balance and tolerance, especially to not be overjudgemental about SJP.  Of course all doesn't go perfectly, and how things work out is the gist of the movie.  I liked it, maybe you will too.

This posted topic has been derailed ,here, once again, it the topic of the post -  Edited: - The point is that this “Lie of the Year" is one of the biggest scandals in American political history: the lie that Joe Biden was acting as president in 2024 and was mentally capable of serving another 4 years.---There is no lie that could have been conjured up by any other person in American politics that could compete with this. The scope of the lie was enormous; the entire corporate media, Democratic Party and executive branch of the federal government conspired to hide the condition of the president. The consequence was historic; Biden cost the Democratic Party any prayer of winning the 2024 election by staying in the race and dropping a live grenade in the lap of Kamala Harris, who was utterly unequipped to handle it. And the stakes were life-or-death; with multiple major wars happening in the world, domestic unrest on college campuses, devastating inflation and declining social trust in the country, we had no president at the wheel.---https://dailycaller.com/2024/12/25/dylan-housman-politifact-lie-of-the-year-joe-biden/

Yes, David, I apologize for derailing your post.  I should have started my own.  Sorry.
