The reason? That will result in the utter destruction of the Republican party. Women do NOT want to be told by the party of rich old white men that fetuses have more rights than they do. Twenty million people losing their health care--how many of those folks will vote Republican--EVER?
The current SCOTUS farce is showcasing the evil and hypocrisy of the Republican party. They have no principles--no morals--no ethics--no sense of decency--no compassion. Only Clem Cornpone, sitting on his tractor, and Tucky Buckford, fondling his GUNZ, will continue to vote Republican. Everyone else will abandon the party.
I was thinking in particular about health care cancellations. When the Democrats win, they can craft new legislation to restore people's health care--for that matter, they can just change a few words in the ACA, call it something different, and pass it into law. Republihole come begging to the Supreme Court to destroy it--they'll just pass another law.
However, there will probably be disruptions in care before the Democrats can fix things. I don't know, for instance, if all ACA-related health care would cease on the day of the Trump court's decision, or there would be a grace period, at least (that would be the more humane option, but Republicans are anything but humane). Imagine the social disruption---and the misery and death---stemming from twenty million people being cut off from treatments, medications, etc.
I've read stories of individuals who depend on regularly adminstered health care for their very lives and won't survive even two days without it. Those people will DIE. It's not some kind of abstraction. The Republican SCOTUS packing will directly result in thousands of deaths.
You Trumpers must be so proud! Thank God we'll be rid of you soon, one way or another. But there's going to be a lot of suffering in the meantime.
