Trump didn't THINK about TikTok. He doesn't. He CAN'T. He just went with his I HATE CHINEESES reflex. If TikTok was located somewhere other than China, Trump would ignore it.

 

The Democrats' failure has been to not discern just how few people in this country care about other people getting fucked over--especially if those other people are "different" in some way. I sympathize with and even applaud efforts to protect marginalized groups. But those efforts don't sell the brand--not to the great unwashed goober masses.

 

The only thing the goober masses care about is whether their rice bowls are full. While the reality is that Democratic policies are more likely than Republican to fulfill that goal, Trump and MAGA have been doing a masterful job with all their deliberately vague promises to Make America Cheap Again. Eggs $2 a dozen! $1 gasoline! Jumbo Size Froot Loops, $1.49! Never mind how! Just vote for us!

And it was a total victory for Trump.  Most social media platforms X, Facebook, Instagram and even YouTube have a strong right-wing bias because the bulk of the political content on those platforms is right-wing. Democrats took away the least political platform where a large part of their base hangs out and have demanded it be sold to a rightwing oligarch who will convert it into a conservative propaganda machine like Elon did with Twitter. 

 

Democratic politicians have never been more out of touch with their base than right now. That's why I quit and I am not coming back until they pull their heads out of their asses which I concede may never happen.
