I averted disaster at my local casino!!!

I usually play Bonus Poker on our Sunday trips to our local casino, but for the last three or four weeks, I've been playing Jacks or Better. It's been going pretty well. Compared to BP, I celebrate every full house and flush mentally, and I haven't hit a bonus four-of-a-kind since I switched.

This morning, we sat down and started playing. I was hitting full houses and a few flushes when I glanced at the upper end of the paytable and saw that the Royal had been changed to 2500 instead of 4000! WTF! I'm playing $0.50, so if I had hit a Royal, it would have been a $1,250 payout, W2G time.

I switched to BP, hit four aces, four 3s, and four Ks, and cashed out for a $260 win. Max 1 casino 0!

That's one of the sneakiest paytable shorts you'll see. You rarely glance at the royal jackpot (I assume you meant 4,000/2,500 COINS on your machine), so it often slips right by you.

The only place in Vegas I've ever seen this variation (aka ripoff) is Binion's, which has several short-royal 9/6 JOB in the back of the casino. The short royal, for anyone who's curious, costs the player about 1%.

I can do you one better, though. I walked into the Horseshoe in Tunica many years ago, fed a VP machine a hundy, and after about five hands, hit a royal. A 2,500 coin royal. I was so steamed--mad at them, mad at myself--that I walked straight back to my car and drove back to--OH CRAP I FORGOT TO CASH MY TICKET! I was about five miles on my way back to Memphis when it dawned on me. At least I didn't get all the way back before I realized it. I would have had no choice but to burn down the entire town, which is particularly difficult when the place is 90% riverboats.

Congrats Max.  I won't ask what casino it was in beautiful Black Hawk

Yep - pretty sure I played that same JOB game for a few minutes in November before I noticed the 2500 payout for the royal. Sent a message to VPfree2 and they updated their info. The place with the good ramen joint, right?

That's just dirty!  What's next, a 3% processing fee for TITO?

That's the one, thanks for the info on when you noticed the 2500 payout.
