I don't hate immigrants--even "illegals"

Thats also why the immigrants aren't replaceable as there is nobody willing or able to do hard physical labor for minimum or near minimum wage.

Oh, it won't be long, and the immigrants doing the bulk of those low-paying, repetitive, hard, physical labor jobs will be replaced.

They speak English.  And Spanish.  Don't need insurance or Social Security or Holidays or Vacations..  With the replaceable battery, they don't take breaks.  At $3.00 an hour, it's fully paid off in less than a year.  This will happen fast.  Tesla alone projects 50,000 of these in 2026, scaling up to a million a year within a decade...and there are a dozen other competitors.  This is happening faster than you realize.

What's the Democrat plan for the millions of unskilled, uneducated, non-English speaking, undocumented immigrants when half their jobs go away?  Pay them to live here?  Deport them?  Train them to replace the remaining jobs that Americans actually want?   AI and automation will replace a lot of those jobs too.

These might be more relevant to your point.

What is the MAGA plan for the millions of unskilled, uneducated Americans who will be replaced by technology?

It would hit MAGA states hard:

Stupid angry Charles is having Elon fantasies again. Did he not hear that Elon has taken his ball, pouting, and gone home?

Elon has, for EIGHT YEARS RUNNING, promised us a million autonomous EVs on the road by next year...but something keeps going wrong. Not to worry, Elon. You call sell MAGA suckers like Charles anything you can dream up...they'll never wise up

That's irrelevant. He promised. He PROMISED. And he's never delivered.

Sounds like the perfect Trump lackey!

Candy, thats another great point a lot of traditional families, (mom and dad in the same house) back in the 70s and the early 80s hadn't made that transition to dual earner families yet.

There were still a lot of single earner families leaving mom at home during the day to run the kids to their part time jobs. Nowadays,  if you are lucky enough to have two parents in the household it is much more likely that both mom and dad are working. Factor in younger siblings and there isn't anybody to run the teens to their jobs and if they can ride their bike, drive or walk to their job, it doesn't leave anybody at home to watch the younger kids.

It doesn't make sense for a teen to get a job if the parent or parents have to pay for childcare so the teen can work a part time job. A lot of parents also need their older teens to drop off and pick-up their younger siblings off at their various activities as they are both working.

Basically, in the last 40 to 50 years a lot of homemaking chores have been shifted to teens in the household.

True.  It seems Hispanic adults have the corner on yard work now instead of teens.

Yesterday I was chatting with my neighbor and a school bus drove by.  Here it is way into June, so I asked why a school bus right now?  He reminded me summer school.  Oh, crap, summer school, yeah.  Dreaded by one and all.

Heck, in my day, if you had to go to summer school it was the parents' job to get you there and back.  I would be sure that wouldn't happen...I'd never hear the end of it.

There's another dynamic at play here that hasn't been mentioned. It was always the American Dream to have the household anchored by the male primary, or sole, wage earner while the Little Woman stayed home and raised the kids. Households with two full-time wage earners were regarded as failures--the Man Of the House being unable to provide for his family with his efforts alone.

If the Little Woman was working when the kids got home, it was the job of the oldest to do household chores, prepare meals, etc. So no part-time jobs for Big Bro. Likewise, no after-school activities that weren't within walking distance.

While this kind of setup worked, more or less, it wasn't until about the 1990s that a woman who chose a career rather than housewifehood (that is so a word!) was exempt from social stigma. Even now, though, if the wife makes more than the husband, that's considered emasculating and generates snickers at cocktail parties. (Cannabis parties?)

So my roundabout conclusion is that the changing of teenager roles has been a direct result of the changing of adult gender roles. Whether a two wage-earned household is a choice or a necessity, its existence alters the role and function of teenage kids.

Stupid Tom ignores the simple fact that Elon didn't say "unless there isn't any demand." He promised. Period.

Of course, stupid Tom sucks the dick of the all-time Presidential champion of broken promises, so no surprise there.

Remember when MAGA hated Musk and would block Tesla Superchargers with their diesel trucks? Do you guys still do that?
