I don't hate immigrants--even "illegals"

Elon is always a day late and a dollar short. These might be ready in 20 years but they won't be able to replace immigrants as Elon's electronics don't hold up well when exposed to the elements.  For example you can't take a Cyber truck through a car wash without bricking it.

And what is really going to displace people from employment is AI not robotics. In ten years as many as 80% of white collar jobs will simply disappear when they are replaced by AI and they won't be coming back. This will devastate white collar professions as you can't educate or retrain yourself out of the problem. 

Honestly, I think that is part of the motivation for getting rid of immigrants. Elon and the other tech bros know this is coming and those manual labor jobs will be needed by Americans as there simply won't be enough jobs for the population. 

Steve Bannon, of all people, has been talking about how the tech bros are trying to create a techno feudalism and how we are the serifs in that scenario. Government at all levels should be preparing for the AI job apocalypse because it is coming sooner rather than later  but they are not.

"Dozens of prospective employees, many of them Spanish speakers, had been coming in and out of the plant all day. Some were hoping to land a new job; others were coming in for training."

I'm just speculating, but is it possible that some of those coming in for a new job or for training might be here 'legally', and tired of seeing those without any legal status (ahem) pre-empting jobs that they otherwise may have qualified for if the positions were open?

I doubt that any "legal" could just look at an "illegal" employed at a meat packing plant, or elsewhere, and ascertain their immigration status.

Trump and I want all illegals to be deported...you know, just like all other countries do.  After all, they are here illegally.  PJ, come back to us with the list of companies who don't find replacement workers in short order.

Actually, NO other countries do that: deporting all illegal immigrants without due process. Most of them aren't so stupid as to indiscriminately throw out everybody. We are, now, anyway.

I already gave you several examples ...including the one TOm lied about hiring AMericans in the illegals' absence.  They just hired more illegals.

Trump says he wants 10 million out of the country.    You think there are 10 million Ameircans waiting to backfill all those jobs?  And we wont miss the economic activity of those 10 million workers/consumers?   Ok then.

We can agree to disagree on policy and that doesnt matter.   Politically, Republicans should be concerned about how the general public feels about it.    His approval ratings on deporations is going in the wrong direction
