I love the back and forth on this forum

This is very entertaining.  Both sides and all contributors have beaucoup passion in their beliefs.  The raw, unadulterated, full speed ahead, damn the torpedoes, rhetoric is beautiful, almost intoxicating to me.  The one huge ominous takeaway that raises my biggest concern is how deeply and how widely divided this country has become.  I suggest a compromise,  The dems allow the GOP to  call their witnesses. The White house allow the subpeoned witnesses (with first hand knowledge) to testify.  Then you might get down to the truth.   

Yeah, but here's the thing-   You have to be a "witness" to be called as a witness. 

For example, I did not testify in the OJ trial because I did not witness any of the alleged crime.

Hunter Biden is not being called as a witness in the impeachment hearings because as much as Republicans want to change the subject of the trial the fact is he has nothing to do with the alleged crime of Trump using national security in exchange for a public smearing of a perceived political opponent.

If Republicans or the department of Justice really believe a crime was committed by Hunter Biden they are free to open an investigation into that.   In the meantime, his relevance to the subjected impeachment hearings is as relevant as my testimony in the OJ trial.

The president, his chief of staff, state dept head, and NSA advisor all have direct knowledge of the events being discussed in the trial and have no constituional grounds to avoid the subpoenas.   But they are anyway with the (correct) inference that Democrats wont spend 10 months in court fighting it during an election year.   

Since this thing started with a phone call about the Bidens, it seems only right for the committee to call Hunter.

We would like to know how he got this job, what were his qualifications, what did he do & how many board meetings did he go to for all this money.

Why did he get this job only after his daddy got involved in the Ukraine?

It didn't start with the Biden's. It started with a corrupt President trying to manufacture dirt on a political opponent.  Today, Sondland, a first-hand witness, testified that Trump didn't even want a real investigation he simply wanted the public announcement of an investigation to make his political opponent look bad. There isn't any type of court hearing/trial in America where you call a witness that is not relevant to the question at hand. Trump is a criminal and today's testimony indicates he has been running the office of President as a criminal enterprise.

You Trumpers keep obsessing about this, like dogs gnawing on a bone. Hunter Biden did nothing wrong. He also had nothing to do with Trump's attempt to bribe and extort Ukraine. He can't, and shouldn't be, a witness because he had nothing to do with the phone call and wasn't there when it happened or when it was plotted beforehand.

There is no legitimate reason for any investigation of Hunter Biden. There never was. Trump got the idea from some alt-right numbnuts conspircay website. It looked attractive to him because he thought he could use it somehow to smear Joe Biden. But even if Hunter Biden turned out to be a mass murderer, what would that have to do with Joe Biden?

Unless, of course, you want to charge Trump with all of Baby Trump's crimes, too. I'm OK with that.

The Democrats have been allowing that throughout the inquiry. The White House is trying to prevent witnesses from testifying because virtually all such testimony would be, and has been, highly damaging to Trump.

Nancy Pelosi invited Trump to testify and/or personally appear and call his own witnesses. Of course, he's not going to do that, because a) he's a chickenshit little weasel and b) he's terrified of being anyplace where he doesn't hold power (Pelosi, not he, would be running things).

It's not a matter of getting down to the truth at this point, anyway. We already know that Trump committed bribery, extortion, and treason. Now the only step remaining is to see if the Republicans have the balls and the integrity to punish him for it.

No - it has nothing to do with the alleged crime of Trump shaking down the Ukraine government.   Hunter Biden was not on that phone call nor was he a witness to any of the conversations.    

Lets pretend for two seconds all of your suspicions about Hunter Biden are true.....what does it have to do with the president withholding aid to Ukraine in exchange for their leaders public announcement of an investigation?

You want to swap out one trial for another.   So do Republicans in the House.    And they're crying because Adam Schiff wont allow it.     Cry me a river.    Bring out the cowardly witnesses to the relevant crime being addressed.   That would be Presidetn Bone-spur, Mulvaney, and the creepy moustache dude.

The FBI and CIA have free license to investigate Hunter Biden to whatever extent they wish.    Have at it.  I'm almost as worried as Bengazhi.
