I met a MAGA today playing VP and we found some common ground

Funny story. A lady was sitting at the vp machine next to me and we struck up a conversation.

I'd say she was in her late 60s or early 70s. She was from Texas.  She looked like a sweet grandmotherly type. I noticed her slot card holder was a red band with Trump 2024 on it.  We talked about non-political stuff. Then she told me she was a Trump supporter and hoped that didn't offend me.

I told her no that it didn't.  I didn't volunteer I was a Harris supporter. It was an intresting conversation and I let her say what she wanted to say. She loves Governor Abbott and supports Trump because of that.

What I appreciated was that she wasn't a conspiracy nutter. Then after talking about political stuff, the conversation took a bizarre turn and that is where we found common ground...

She told me she was out here with her boy toy and she was a sugar momma. She laughed as she said she perferrs to do it that way because he goes back to his home in Virginia after their travel. She laughed and said that she doesn't want a man around all the time.

I told her about my roster and we had a good time laughing and sharing stories.

Isn't Vegas great?

By her appreance, I never would have guessed we had anything in common but because I took the time to listen to her we both had a great time for a couple of hours.

Did she have any younger sisters? I'm looking for a sugar momma! My wife doesn't know that yet but I think she'll be fine with it as long as she gets her cut.

I didn't ask but I supsect the reason she struck up a conversation was because she wanted to add me to her roster.

People of every color, flavor, situation, and persuasion wind up in Vegas. LVA is a microcosm of that, actually.

You're more tolerant than I am. When I find out, either by visual clues or conversation, that someone's a Trumper, our interaction is over. Happens most often at the poker table, when some bored oldster starts ranting about the Democrat conspiracy to destroy America.

Ahh the tolerant left. Gotta love em.

I don't tolerate people who choose to be assholes. Politics, "left" or "right," has nothing to do with it.

I tolerate actual Republicans. I don't tolerate MAGAs. Perceive the distinction? Maybe you don't.

But as long as we're talking tolerance--how tolerant is the "right" of anyone who isn't a straight white male?

It was a good conversation because I didn't react negatively. I suspect she was not a social media user so her brain hadn't rotted unlike so many of those MAGAs that are conspiracy kooks.  She told me she thinks Texas is turning blue and will be blue in ten years.  She thought Harris had a 20% chance of winning Texas.

In real life, I like to engage people and be polite.  I like it when someone with different views and experiences tells me their story.  It is amazing what happens when you are willing to listen. I made a choice at the end of the pandemic to be more outgoing and friendly towards people in everyday life. It has worked out.   For example, the employees at every convenience store in town give me free food and fountain sodas. I have received two free room upgrades and had resort fees waived by simply being nice and polite.  When people ahead of me in line complain about the lines or whatever else is going on, I smile and say, I am sorry you are having a bad day. Forget the $20 trick just be nice and polite.

And the amazing thing is I feel so much better.  It really is nice to be nice.

The only people stupid Kevin tolerates are the people who agree with him 100%

The right doesn't pretend to be tolerant. We are known to be assholes and don't hide it unlike the left.

I'm pretty sure he got bullied quite a bit growing up, not that I can blame them. He is a quite the tool.
