I'm in a "purple" county - local and county offices are split pretty evenly between parties. Unfortunately, Republicans will once again dominate all state races and of course, the presidential contest. Satan himself could win a statewide election if he had an R next to his name. However, there's a slim, slim chance that a massive turnout could possibly turn the tide against the sleazy, lazy and vicious Ted Cruz - quite possibly the most pathetic excuse for a human being who has ever served in the US senate. The whole country would thank us if we could pull this off...
I have a tradition of canceling out one particular Texan's statewide and national votes in every election. I've decided this time on our lovely and talented facebook addict and Trump cult member David Miller (drmilled for the old timers here.) Damn, voting feels good sometimes. Onward thru the fog!
Cruz has skated for quite some time now--his only real challenge was from O'Rourke, who utterly botched it--and I've read that until it became apparent how much of a threat Allred was, the Republipig party didn't allocate much in resources to shore him up. I'm sure that they have some sort of strategy, legal or otherwise, to squelch turnout, because Cruz is toast if they don't.
I'm not sure I could tolerate living in Texas--and there are a few places I actually like, such as Austin and San Antonio. I've traveled there a lot, and I continually see the signs of a callous and careless government--such as horrible highway construction and safety and virtually NO money spent on parks, public spaces, and public transportation. And let's not even talk about Texas-style electricity.
We do need to finish Da Wall, though. A thousand-foot-high electrified barbed wire fence around the entire perimeter of Texas. Get out before that happens (I feel sorry for you, being so near to David Miller, which would still be too close if he was in El Paso and you were in Port Arthur).
