I was pleasantly surprised today

I drove through a small city of about 7k people that is close to me in the heart of MAGA country. There was a big no kings rally. It shocked me as this is a poor and very blue collar area. The median household income is about 52k a year.

If Trump has lost his support in this town Republicans are going to have a very bad midterm and an awful 2028.

I suspect the low income with all the new Trump taxes is what caused him to fall out of favor with this group.

As I've said many times before, they put up with his lying, his stupidity, his evil, his criminality, his assholery--but they won't put up with their rice bowls being empty.

The Turd cannot understand, at any level, what it's like to be already barely scraping by and then have the cost of necessities go up. Pay the electric bill or buy food, but not both? Hope to God the car continues to run because you can't afford to fix it? Make the kids do with worn-out clothes because you can't pay the rent AND buy them new ones? Does Trump even comprehend what he blithely dismisses as "short-term pain"?

All that said, what do all those "No Kings" rallies accomplish...that one guy with good aim could?

There was a pretty big No Kings Rally in downtown Riverside today, as there were around the country.

We had 'em here in Oregon as well. People got to blow off steam. The protests this summer had more of a party atmosphere, and the news reports suggest that the current rallies were more of the same.

The protests/rallies accomplish absolutely nothing, because despite all the signs and chanting, we do have a king. He doesn't call himself that, but that's what he is.

I disagree. They help spread awareness and get the word out. Also in small towns like the one Mark mentioned they help people that regret supporting him realize that they aren't alone. That many of their neighbors no longer support him either.

I think a large portion of MAGA support comes from fear. Fear of being ostracized from friends or the community. Seeing that there are others that feel the way they do could really help alleviate some of that fear.

Big turnout in San Francisco.

Well, the rallies do demonstrate how many people are disgusted with Trump's presidency and maybe show the world that not every American is MAGA.  They certainly don't convince Congress to do anything.  I suspect that the most common effect on Trump supporters is to confirm Trump's rhetoric that the country is chock full of radical left liberal subversive America haters and that something must be done.

I drove past a pretty big No Kings Rally in my neighborhood, on my way to the other side of Denver and saw two more rallies in my travels.
