People with whom one disagrees and expresses such disagreement frequently deploy a tired old tactic: try to devalue one's arguments by saying that one is arguing for the sake of arguing, not to make any specific point. You ain't the first person here to accuse me of that, which is kind of rich, considering that you've surely seen Millerscum's ten-whines-a-day posts and Boilerboob's frequent "Libs-blah-blah" screeds and not said a word about them. But selective perception and resultant reactions are your inalienable rights.
I strongly disagree with the recent horrifyingly popular anti-democratic ideology and policies of the "Republican" party and yes, the idiotic, evil clowns who still, unbelievably, worship the Orange Turd. So that gives me a LOT to be "contrarian" about. Feel free to attach that label to what I say. Be thankful that you live in what will soon be known as the pre-fascist times. And whatever you do--don't attach any culpability for that to yourself.
You're wrong about how much I watch Fox News--since you asked--but I don't ignore them, either. Can't afford to. When someone here or the Breakfast Bloviator at the local cafe babbles something that makes no sense whatsoever, I can usually decode it by having watched two minutes of Fox News and discerning what "issue" is making them turn purple.
And I don't need to seek out confrontation. I get it effortlessly simply by expressing heresies such as "nonwhite people are human," "the Fourteenth Amendment applies to women," and "the Second Amendment doesn't grant you the right to mow down schoolchildren."
Regarding your last paragraph above, nobody in their right mind (R,D,or I ) would argue against those position statements you quoted. That's over-embellishment of fact, at least in terms of the real frequency that they actually happen in real time real life.. Those are thoughts that nut jobs harbor and , unfortunately, sporadically employ.
Further, some humans get some semblance of the warm fuzzies via conflict..there's some published science behind that..somewhere; a largely anonymous chat room forum is a reasonable place to observe it, too. The thing is, free speech covers it until somebody gets injured. It's your prerogative. Have fun.
Regarding Fox News, you'll have to find a replacement punching bag for Tucker Carlson..as you're aware he's gone. That's old news now in the perpetually evolving, 3-minute news cycle, I know. Have you selected a replacement yet ? There's always Hannity?
Cheers...
