"I Wish a Buck was Still Silver.."

People with whom one disagrees and expresses such disagreement frequently deploy a tired old tactic: try to devalue one's arguments by saying that one is arguing for the sake of arguing, not to make any specific point. You ain't the first person here to accuse me of that, which is kind of rich, considering that you've surely seen Millerscum's ten-whines-a-day posts and Boilerboob's frequent "Libs-blah-blah" screeds and not said a word about them. But selective perception and resultant reactions are your inalienable rights.

I strongly disagree with the recent horrifyingly popular anti-democratic ideology and policies of the "Republican" party and yes, the idiotic, evil clowns who still, unbelievably, worship the Orange Turd. So that gives me a LOT to be "contrarian" about. Feel free to attach that label to what I say. Be thankful that you live in what will soon be known as the pre-fascist times. And whatever you do--don't attach any culpability for that to yourself.

You're wrong about how much I watch Fox News--since you asked--but I don't ignore them, either. Can't afford to. When someone here or the Breakfast Bloviator at the local cafe babbles something that makes no sense whatsoever, I can usually decode it by having watched two minutes of Fox News and discerning what "issue" is making them turn purple.

And I don't need to seek out confrontation. I get it effortlessly simply by expressing heresies such as "nonwhite people are human," "the Fourteenth Amendment applies to women," and "the Second Amendment doesn't grant you the right to mow down schoolchildren."

Regarding your last paragraph above, nobody in their right mind (R,D,or I ) would argue against those position statements you quoted. That's over-embellishment of fact, at least in terms of the real frequency that they actually happen in real time real life.. Those are thoughts that nut jobs harbor and , unfortunately, sporadically employ.

Further, some humans get some semblance of the warm fuzzies via conflict..there's some published science behind that..somewhere; a largely anonymous chat room forum is a reasonable place to observe it, too. The thing is, free speech covers it until somebody gets injured. It's your prerogative. Have fun.

Regarding Fox News, you'll have to find a replacement punching bag for Tucker Carlson..as you're aware he's gone. That's old news now in the perpetually evolving, 3-minute news cycle, I know. Have you selected a replacement yet ? There's always Hannity?

Cheers...

All the professed liars, of which there are many, would be a good start, but in truth, the evil assholes are not the "news" (ROFL, as they say) anchors but the network that promotes tham and portrays them as prophets. Hell, I might be a bald-faced liar five times a week if I was paid $18 million a year. (I can be bought.) So while Tucker Fucker has been given the heave-ho, his fellow liars remain, and in truth, they all parrot the same shit, though their styles differ slightly.

I'm afraid that the positions I cited are espoused far more frequently than you claim. Of course, the wording is usually more genteel--but what else is it but gun love when people defend selling weapons of mass murder to angry nutballs? What is it but racism when legislatures and governors actively seek to disenfranchise black people? What is it but misogyny when state governments decide that the right to privacy doesn't apply to DEM UPPITY WIMMENFOLK? These efforts disgust me. Call it some kind of failing on my part. Go ahead--I can take it. But I will never tolerate that shit. Never.

As far as some humans thriving on conflict--of course. But the vast majority of such folks draw the line at fomenting or encouraging conflict that hurts others. A substantial portion of the remainder eschew pointless conflict. That leaves the Tucker Fuckers of this world. And then--there are the people whose fear response is abnormally heightened, because of differences in their brain structure: conservatives.

Of course, I don't know if it's clinically accurate to call a condition suffered by about one-third of the population an "abnormality." Maybe the tiebreaker is that conservatism makes people act irrationally and is ipso facto an abnormality.

Well, all you have to do is deport roughly half the American population ( the evil R conservatives along with conservative - leaning Independents)..then your Shangrila will materialize. Just remember, you'll have nobody to scream at in that scenario.  Can you survive without an opponent?

It wouldn't be a Shangri-la. It would be like, oh, Canada or Western Europe. Much better, more democratic, and more peaceful. Certainly not without problems. Never said that was possible.

I don't need or want "opponents." I'd be much happier, in fact, if I never again had to argue with someone that black people are human and have the same rights as everyone else, that women are fully equal to men and have the same rights to self-determination, and that guns don't make you freer, safer, or more manly. I would not have to debate such issues if I lived in one of the abovementioned actual democracies, rather than the sham and deteriorating version of that we have here.

Deporting the icky half of the American population would be worth the effort. We wouldn't even have to dump them overseas or into the ocean or into the mouth of an active volcano. Just grab 'em all by the scruff of the neck and fling them into Tex-ass, Arkie-saw, Florida Swamp, etc. To make it stick, implant explosives in their chests that will detonate if they try to reenter a liberal state. Everyone will be happier.
