I agree with Kevin on this the cake is already baked. It is just a matter of when.
And it is the Republicans ushering it in. All these folks, including a lot of Democrats, are of the mindset that once Trump goes away, the Republican party will go back to normal and nominate someone like Nikki Haley or Mitt Romney the next time around.
It will never happen. The Republican base is hooked on conspiracy theories that are fed to them by the Conservative media and then hammered home on social media. You are not welcome in the party if you don't buy into their conspiracy theories. Republicans have already destroyed America's faith in the election process which in the past was held up as an example to the rest of the world of how fair elections should conducted. And we all know how Republicans determine if an election is rigged. Any election where the Republican candidate is defeated is rigged.
Now Republicans and the Republican party are undermining the legal system and Federal Law enforcement. According to them, the FBI is part of a vast left-wing conspiracy to get Trump. The FBI has long been considered the most conservative agency in the United States government. There has never been a Democratic FBI director. They have all been Republicans. But because the FBI had evidence of Trump committing crimes they are somehow corrupt and now simply an extension of the Democratic party.
The base wants people so far to the right that they are mentally unhinged. The Republicans over the last few decades have managed to stack the deck via gerrymandering in the House and the State Houses. In many of those districts, because of how they are drawn, you have to be as far-right as MTG to win a Republican primary.
Any compromise with the Democratic party even on the most mundane issues is seen as a betrayal and invites a primary challenge. That is why Republicans can't govern. They are all locked in a battle to be the most favored by the base so they constantly do things, like removing their speaker, to get attention. If you want to break into conservative politics or conservative media you have to be more extreme than your competition.
Conservative Billionaires are buying up the media to turn them into propaganda outlets. Democrats are so dumb it drives me crazy. How so many of them think requiring TikTok to sell to Steve Mnuchin is a good thing leaves me speechless at their stupidity.
Conservatives want to turn this country into Hungary. They want a one-party state with a captive conservative media. And the truth is they just come out and say this stuff but nobody listens neither Democrats nor Republicans.
I give JD Vance an 85% chance of being named as Trump's running mate. He is a fascist autocrat like Trump but where he differs is he isn't mentally ill, he is intelligent and polished. He will be able to get Trump-like things done that Trump can't because of his mental infirmities. I wouldn't be surprised if they replaced Trump at the convention with the deal being Vance would pardon Trump. This would be a much worse outcome than Trump. Vance would win in a landslide because he is simply a new face.
Anyway boys unless you like fascism and living in a theocratic state, I suggest you make your exit plans. Thailand recently made some changes to its Visa programs that make it attractive to work a remote job from there. I plan to be out of here in two to three years no matter who wins the election.
