......You're unconsciously endorsing the discrimination when you mention "violence from migrant gangs." Is that any different than violence from plain old "gang" gangs? Is migrant gang violence worse than AMURRICAN gang violence? Should one be punished more severely than the other?.........

No. Citizen and non-citizen violent crime generally shouldn't be treated differently. Except in sofar as one is subject to deportation during the sentencing phase of a trial and the other is not.

The reason I used the term "migrant" to modify the word "gang" was because the post was made within the context of discussing immigration law. I didn't want it to appear as though I was suggesting that all gangs should be subject to immigration enforcement.

If the post was about criminal enforcement generally, then I would not have made the distinction.

Yes, migrant gang violence is foreign terrorism and dealt with appropriately.  I don't know why liberals side with evil.

There's got to be a way we can enforce reasonable immigration laws while giving everyone proper due process and operating within the confines of the Constitution.

There's got to be a way to not tolerate violence from migrant gangs or other criminals while using enforcement discretion and prioritization recognizing most violators of immigration law are not violent.

There are those who love to quote the Constitution but who choose to ignore the laws made by Congress whenever it suits their current agenda. This is commonplace and seen all of the time.

Every person who has been deported has had a hearing at some point and received a final order of deportation even if it was issued a few years ago.  So the Constitution is being followed.

Almost 400,000 criminals have been deported and if others who have final orders also get swept up, so be it

The only ones breaking the laws are the rioters.  Democrats had no problem with violating immigration law when the biden gang let millions of people walk across the border.

"The laws made by Congress" must follow the Constitution and if they don't, they SHOULD be ignored. That's the duty of any citizen--to hold the government accountable.

Right. But MAGA and Trump do make a distinction. They say that filthy immigrants have no civil rights and are not entitled to due process. Thousands of brown people who are here perfectly legally have been swept up in ICE raids and detained, sometimes for weeks. Then the Turd's goons say "Oopsy" and toss them out of a vehicle while it's still moving. No apology, no recompense, no nothing.

Wrong-o, Tom. The thugs who violate the civil rights of the so-called "rioters" are also breaking the law. They excuse themselves by calling every single protestor a rioter and then they think they can march in with guns blazing.

And you're completely full of it when you say that everyone swept up gets a hearing. The Turd has made sure that thousands of victims of ICE raids are tossed out of the country before they have a chance to even request a hearing.

MAGA thinks that due process, like every other part of the Constitution except the Second Amendment, can be ignored as it suits them.

Were they vetted on the way in?  Sure, then get a hearing.  If they were just allowed to walk in without true vetting or climbed the fence, they go out the same door and they can apply to come back if they knock on it properly.

That's not the way due process works. The government can't just toss them back. MAGA may hate it, but they do have rights. Because regardless of what MAGA tells us, they're human beings.

But without due process there's no way to tell whether or not they're guilty of the immigration violation for which they are accused.
